O ano do centenário do nascimento de Paulo Freire, para além das comemorações, propicia uma oportunidade de colocar-nos em dia com o legado de Paulo Freire. Este ensaio contribui para a reconstrução deste legado através da socialização de reflexões de Paulo Freire, em palestras na Austrália, a convite do Conselho Nacional de Igrejas Cristãs da Austrália, em 1974. Tratando-se de trabalho junto ao Conselho Mundial de Igrejas, a dimensão teológica mescla-se com a pedagógica no movimento de transformação da sociedade. Em sintonia com setores progressistas das igrejas, o tema da libertação recebe especial atenção de Paulo Freire. Temas como fé cristã e marxismo, o papel da igreja na libertação dos oprimidos e a atitude dos cristãos diante das forças desumanizantes, por exemplo, estão tramados junto com os conceitos de diálogo, conscientização e motivação educacional. Após breve apresentação do material transcrito e traduzido, são abordados os seguintes temas em nossa reflexão: a) historicidade e coerência; b) raízes latino-americanas; e c) a teologia do educador. Finalizamos sinalizando para o permanente ato de reflexão e reelaboração de seu pensamento, que se expressa na relação entre as falas e as obras anteriores e posteriores do autor.
Este artigo tem como ponto de partida a atualidade e a relevância do pensamento epistêmico e pedagógico de Paulo Freire para os Estudos Decoloniais. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa de cunho bibliográfico que teve por objetivo compreender a dialética entre denúncia e anúncio na epistemologia de Paulo Freire em Abya Yala. Para tanto, tomou-se como objeto de análise as três principais obras escritas e publicadas no período de seu exílio: Educação como prática da liberdade (1967), Cartas a Guiné Bissau (1978) e Pedagogia do oprimido (1987). Algumas dimensões de análise foram apresentadas: opressor/oprimido, desumanização/humanização e cultura do silêncio/diálogo, conscientização/colonização das mentes, esperança/desesperança e libertação/domesticação, demonstrando que Freire é precursor e testemunho crítico da modernidade-colonialidade.
O esforço de refletir sobre o nosso próprio tempo é tão difícil quanto fundamental. Através de tal desafio, a pesquisa apresentada aqui é uma proposta para pensarmos sobre o papel profissional do professor/a, em uma conjuntura de crise provocada pela pandemia do COVID-19, juntamente com a crise do capitalismo mundial. Para tanto, partimos da metodologia da pesquisa bibliográfica, investigando a literatura que vem debatendo sobre as principais implicações políticas, sociais e econômicas do atual momento histórico. Mais do que isso, olhamos para a construção de um campo pedagógico a partir da chave dos estudos decoloniais. Tais pressupostos nos fornecem base para olharmos para os problemas por meio da dialética freiriana de denúncia/anúncio, fazendo dois movimentos centrais: a) denunciar os desafios do fazer docente crítico no atual contexto; b) anunciar alternativas de superação, que vem sendo construídas pelos movimentos sociais populares e que podem ser lidas na chave de estudos decoloniais.
Os Pré-Universitários/Vestibulares Populares (PUP/PVP) de matriz freireana2 estão diretamente associados a uma busca esperançosa de transformação social e democratização do acesso ao ensino superior. Em contraposição às políticas neoliberalizantes dos anos 1990, camadas populares passaram a estabelecer redes de indignação - frente a tais políticas excludentes - e de esperanças de mudança do quadro desesperador que foi colocado. De modo geral, este trabalho visa contribuir com a história da educação e do acesso a ela, estabelecendo um panorama de análise dos cursos PUP/PVP ligados às universidades federais no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Além disso, visa estabelecer diálogo e troca de experiências entre essas redes constituídas pelos PUP/PVP para a promoção de uma rede maior que compreenda buscas e inquietações comuns como espaços de luta e resistência das camadas populares.
