Pesquisar sobre correspondência verbal pode auxiliar a identificar as variáveis que interferem na adesão ao tratamento, já que se verifica a relação entre o que o paciente diz e o que ele faz. Este estudo teve como objetivo descrever e analisar a correspondência dizer-fazer, em sua ocorrência natural, de três portadoras de diabetes mellitus tipo 2, sobre a sua prática de exercícios físicos. Foi perguntado aos participantes se eles iriam praticar exercícios físicos e, depois, esta prática foi filmada. Os dados revelaram que uma participante apresentou uma boa correspondência, outra apresentou correspondência parcial e a terceira não apresentou nenhuma correspondência Analisando-se os dados demográficos das participantes, levantou-se a hipótese de que variáveis como: escolaridade, nível sócio-econômico, idade e sedentarismo podem ter relação com o grau de correspondência verbal.
O diabetes mellitus é uma doença crônica, caracterizada por um tratamento complexo. Este estudo teve como objetivo analisar as contingências a que oito adultos portadores de diabetes tipo 2 estariam submetidos frente às condições impostas pelo tratamento. Com base no exame da hemoglobina glicada, os
participantes foram divididos entre: Grupo A (controle glicêmico adequado) e o Grupo B (controle glicêmico inadequado). Os resultados apontaram um melhor seguimento das orientações passadas pela equipe, comportamentos de autocontrole e contingências de reforçamento positivo no Grupo A, enquanto que no Grupo B houve um predomínio das contingências de reforçamento negativo e não discriminação dos eventos privados.
O diabetes mellitus é uma doença crônica e o seu tratamento é altamente complexo. Pesquisas têm surgido com o objetivo de compreender as contribuições do estilo de vida e dos fatores comportamentais no desenvolvimento e no controle da doença. O presente estudo realizou uma análise de contingências dos comportamentos de adesão e de não-adesão ao tratamento, buscando, para isso, relações de dependência entre eventos comportamentais e ambientais, a partir de um estudo de caso único com uma paciente portadora de diabetes mellitus tipo 2. O procedimento adotado para a coleta de dados foi a caracterização dos comportamentos de acordo com as seguintes categorias: mensuração da glicemia, administração da insulina, controle da dieta e prática de exercício físico. Os resultados indicaram a prevalência de contingências aversivas e demonstraram a necessidade de se ensinar estratégias de autocontrole ao paciente, e regras por parte da equipe de saúde, que descrevam as contingências em operação no ambiente.
