Este artigo é parte de uma investigação sobre formação docente em Artes Visuais no Brasil, revelando nuances de um estudo publicado em 2008, resultado de associação acadêmica por extremos entre regiões, em eixo Norte-Sul do país. Observando seu polo setentrional, destacamos seus aspectos emergentes inserindo-os em suas qualidades locais. Situamo-nos na Região Norte, na Amazônia, vasto território que se desdobra ao longo dos cursos dos rios e dos igarapés, cercado pela presença da floresta tropical, onde também se revelam outras paisagens como as do cerrado amazônico. Refletimos com o fim de mergulhar nas águas onde afluem subjetividades que elucidam não somente um modo de viver, mas de pensar a própria arte e a educação. Desenvolvemos esse trabalho a partir de um método cartográfico de pesquisa que pudesse apreender experiências fluidas em suas geografias líquidas. Na elaboração de questões reunindo o eixo N-S, colocamos em foco a processualidade, o “coração da cartografia”: não apenas mapas, gráficos, tabelas ou outros registros cartográficos regulares, mas a extensividade do pensamento esteve como o nosso objeto de atenção primordial.
