In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, a complex phenomenon called the “infodemic” has emerged, compromising coping with the pandemic. This study aims to estimate the prevalence of agreement with misinformation about COVID-19 and to identify associated factors. A web survey was carried out in Portuguese-speaking countries in two stages: 1. the identification of misinformation circulating in the included countries; 2. a multicentric online survey with residents of the included countries. The outcome of the study was agreement or disagreement with misinformation about COVID-19. Multivariate analyzes were conducted using the Poisson regression model with robust variance, a logarithmic link function, and 95% confidence intervals. The prevalence of agreement with misinformation about COVID-19 was 63.9%. The following factors increased the prevalence of this outcome: having a religious affiliation (aPR: 1454, 95% CI: 1393–1517), having restrictions on leisure (aPR: 1230, 95% CI: 1127–1342), practicing social isolation (aPR: 1073, 95% CI: 1030–1118), not avoiding agglomeration (aPR: 1060, 95% CI: 1005–1117), not seeking/receiving news from scientific sources (aPR: 1153, 95% CI: 1068–1245), seeking/receiving news from three or more non-scientific sources (aPR: 1114, 95% CI: 1049–1182), and giving credibility to news carried by people from social networks (aPR: 1175, 95% CI: 1104–1251). There was a high prevalence of agreement with misinformation about COVID-19. The quality, similarity, uniformity, and acceptance of the contents indicate a concentration of themes that reflect “homemade”, simple, and easy methods to avoid infection by SARS-CoV-2, compromising decision-making and ability to cope with the disease.
Objective: To evaluate, from the perspective of Nursing students, a virtual learning environment about educational actions for people with diabetes mellitus. Method: A cross-sectional and descriptive study with qualitative data analysis and a sample of 71 nursing students. A questionnaire was used to collect data that includes pedagogical and theoretical aspects of the virtual learning environment: content, interaction, activities, response time and interface quality. Results: The results showed that there was a good evaluation of the parameters in most of the evaluated items, except for the figures and sound of the VLE interface domain, which evaluates the quality of the platform design. Conclusion and implications for practice: In the students’ evaluation, the virtual learning environment was a potential tool for the technical and complementary development of nursing, in addition the inclusion in the virtual world of learning.
BackgroundThe incidence of skin cancer has increased worldwide, particularly melanoma rates, which had a mean development of 2.6 % a year in the last 10 years. The agreement on the relation between long-term or chronic exposure to the sun and the emergence of these neoplasias has made several workers who perform activities exposed to solar radiation to form a risk group for the development of skin cancer, community health agents included.OBJECTIVESTo analyze the prevalence of sunscreen-use-related factors to skin cancer in a labor risk group.METHODOLOGYCross-sectional study with community health agents selected through simple random sampling. After collecting data using semi-structured interviews, a descriptive analysis was performed for the qualitative variables, bivariate analysis was employed for checking the association between sunscreen use and sociodemographic, occupational and knowledge about skin variables, and multivariate analysis was conducted to check independent variables associated to sunscreen use. A 5% significance level was used.ResultsOf 261 health gents selected, 243 were able to participate in the study. The prevalence rate of sunscreen use was 34.2% (95% CI: 28.2-40.2). Factors associated with sunscreen use were female sex, advanced age, use of sunscreen in situations when the skin got burnt, knowledge of the negative effects of the sun on the skin and skin cancer history.ConclusionsThe prevalence found reveals that there is a need for implementing educational strategies in health services regarding photoprotection.
Descritores: Docentes de Enfermagem; Diabetes Gestacional; Capacitação de Recursos Humanos em Saúde.THE NURSE PROFESSOR AND DIABETES MELLITUS GESTACIONAL: THE LOOK UNDER TRAININGObjective: to analyze the nurse professor education in the attention to gestational diabetes mellitus.
