S ín d ro m e da im u n odeficiên cia adqu irida.A leptospirose é uma doença freqüente em nosso meio, de veiculação hídrica, cuja incidência é mais alta nos meses com maiores índices pluviomé-tricos. N a cidade de São Paulo os fatores que propi ciam a infecção em seres humanos são os relacionados com as precárias condições sócio-econômicas de grande parte da população, falta de saneamento básico, grande população murina, e as enchentes e inundações que são freqüentes nos meses de muita chuva. A leptospirose apresenta-se sob várias formas clínicas, desde infecções inaparentes, passando por quadros gripais, até formas graves, como a forma icterohemorrágica (síndrome de Weil), que podem levar o paciente à morte^.Outra doença com alta incidência e que também assume quadro clínico bastante variável, porém bem mais grave é a Síndrome da Imunodeficiência Adqui rida (SIDA), cuja principal característica é a severa depressão da imunidade celular que acaba por levar os pacientes à morte.
