The experiment was carried out in Botucatu, São Paulo, Brazil. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with four replications and the treatments consisted of eight control periods, in which the crop was maintained weed-free and of eight coexistence periods, in which the crop was maintained in the presence of the weeds. The periods were 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, and 56 days after sowing (DAS), besides a weed-free control and a control maintained in the presence of weed. To determine the periods of interference, grain yield data, panicle length and dry mass of the aerial part of the sorghum plants obtained were fit to the nonlinear regression model y = a/[1+(x/b) c ]. Eleven families and 17 species of weeds were identified, with the families Asteraceae and Poaceae presenting the largest number of species. Considering as acceptable a loss of 5% of grain yield, panicle length and dry mass of the aerial part of the sorghum plants, it was possible to determine the period previous to weed interference (PPWI) of 42, 72 and 15 DAS and the total period of prevention of weed interference (TPPWI) of 26, 17 and 12 DAS, respectively. No critical period of weed interference prevention (CPWIP) was observed for the parameters evaluated.
) and glyphosate + saflufenacil (720 + 28 g ha -1 PALAVRAS-CHAVE) applied post-emergence on three species of weeds (Richardia brasiliensis, Sida rhombifolia and Ipomoea grandifolia), and a control without herbicide. The herbicides were sprayed when the castor bean plants showed 50 to 70 cm of height. Visual assessments of the degree of control were performed at 3, 7, 14, 21 and 28 days after treatment application. The study was installed in a randomized complete block design with three replications. The herbicide saflufenacil was effective in the control of all the weeds studied, and the herbicides carfentrazone-ethyl and flumioxazin presented only satisfactory control of weeds. The mixture tested was effective in the control of all weeds.KEY WORDS: Carfentrazone-ethyl, Ricinus communis, flumioxazin, saflufenacil.
EFFECT OF RAINFALL ON IMAZAPYR ACTION IN AQUATIC WEED CONTROL 2 ABSTRACTThe aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of different periods of rainfall that occurred after the application of the imazapyr herbicide on the control efficiency of Pistia stratiotes and Eichhornia crassipes. We studied 10 mm rainfall, applied for 5' at different time periods (0h, 2h, 4h, 6h, 8h, 12h, 24h, not simulated rainfall) after the application of imazapyr formulation Arsenal NA, 250 g ai ha -1 (1.0 L cp ha -1). The experiment had completely randomized design with four replications. Plants were evaluated at 7, 14, 21, 28 and 35 days after application (DAA), and the results submitted to analysis of variance by F test and treatment means compared by Tukey's test (p <0. 05). The occurrence of rainfall up to 6 hours after herbicide application, plants of P. stratiotes, negatively affected its efficiency and control; rainfall intervals over 8 hours had no effect in control. The occurrence of rainfall at all time intervals did not affect the control of E. crassipes plants.
(40, 80, 160 and 240 g ha -1 ),and three application sites (leaf, stem and whole plant) and a control without application of herbicide. The glyphosate herbicide caused phytotoxicity in the eucalyptus crop, which increased as subdoses increased and with the greater intensity in the applications on the stem and whole plant, reaching 75% at 14 days after application. The gain in height plant and diameter, dry mass in the aerial section and leaf section had significant reductions, which resulted in losses up to 58% in dry mass, 56% in leaf area and a difference by 6 cm in height. GLYPHOSATE SUBDOSES ABSORTION APPLIED AT DIFFERENT LOCATIONS OF EUCALYPTUS PLANT ABSTRACT -One of the biggest problems faced in reforestation areas with the eucalyptus crops are the weeds, whose management takes an important role among the cultural treatments and with direct responses in income and production costs. Preliminary works of research and field observations indicate a differential tolerance to glyphosate between local (leaves and stems) that this herbicide reaches. In this context, the objective of this work was to verify the intoxication and development of plants submitted to subdoses of glyphosate and its absorption in different application locals in the plant, simulating a drift. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, in a factorial arrangement, with four glyphosate subdoses
ABSTRACT GLYPHOSATE AND IMAZAMOX TRANSLOCATION IN WATER HYACINTH PLANTS.Eichhornia crassipes is one of the main weeds found in aquatic environments, being undesirable for many activities. The aim of this study was to evaluate the translocation of glyphosate and imazamox in E. crassipes. Eight intervals were studied for cutting leaves that received herbicides: 2, 4, 6, 8, 12 and 24 hours after application (HAA), and a treatment with no cutting (untreated). The glyphosate dose was 2,160 g a.e. ha -1 (commercial product -Rodeo) + 0.5% v v -1 Aterbane adhesive spreader and imazamox at 290.4 g i.a. ha -1 (commercial product -Clearcast). The treatments were installed in a completely randomized design with four replications. Glyphosate showed a bad control for all the periods of leaf cutting. The imazamox did not provide control within 12 HAA, while from 24 HAA onward the control was effective. There was not a great mobility of the glyphosate molecule in water hyacinth plants, a period above 24 hours being needed for a satisfactory translocation. For imazamox at least 24 hours were needed after herbicide application for the translocation to occur along with subsequent control.
The interference of weeds in maize production may be reflected in grain yield losses that vary as a function of the density, stage and degree of aggressiveness of the species present. In the agricultural ecosystem, crops and weeds demand light, water, nutrients and space, which are frequently not available in sufficient quantities, leading to competition. The aim of this work was to determine the period of interference of weed plants, in particular of naked crabgrass (Digitaria nuda) on maize crop in the first and second harvest. The treatments were defined as increasing periods of coexistence and increasing control of weed community (7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, and 56 days), two more controls, a control including one with weed control until the end of the culture cycle and another with coexistence until the harvest. For each period, were evaluated the stand of maize plants, length of ear, number of grains per row, number of rows per ear, cob, 100-grain weight, and grain productivity. The data obtained were subjected to analysis of variance using the F test, with average treatments compared using Tukey's test at 5% probability. Crop productivity was evaluated by means of regressions, the critical periods of interference were estimated. The critical timing of weed removal was 25 days for both harvests. The critical weed free period was 54 and 27 days for the first and second harvest respectively. For the conditions of the first and second harvest, the critical period of weed control was of 29 and 2 days respectively. Key words: Digitaria nuda. Naked crabgrass. Competition. Phytosociology. Weed interference. Zea mays.
