The purpose of the study was to determine if the ability of psychiatric hospital patients to become gainfully employed following release from the hospital can be predicted by 3 of the most frequently used psychological tests, the WAIS, the MMPI, and the Korschach. Patients who had taken any of these tests within 6 mo. of their release were divided into 2 groups on the basis of whether or not they had been gainfully employed following their release, each group being further subdivided to provide a 2nd sample to be used for cross-validation. Only 3 out of 39 comparisons of test scales were statistically significant, none of these differences being confirmed on the cross-validating sample
