Jfai 1942.)Das g-Strophanthin oder Ouabainl) ist von allen Herzgift-Glykosiden am leichtesten zuganglich, da es in den kaiuflichen Samen von Strophanthus gratus in einer Menge von 5 % enthalten ist, bequem daraus dargestellt werden kann und schon krystallisiert. Seit seiner Entdeckung durch Arnaudl) ist es daher mehrfach bearbeitet worden2), der Erfolg hat den Bemiihungen aber nicht ganz entsprochen. Zwar hat A r n a u d bereits gefunden, daI.3 das Glykosid als Zucker nur l Mol. R h a m n o s e enthalt, und die Summenformel C2sH440,2 ist durch J a c o b s und Bigelow2) sichergestellt worden; aber das Genin konnte bisher nicht erhalten werden, da bei allen Versuchen, es durch Saurehydrolyse aus den1 Glykosid zii gewinnen, Verharzung eintrat. Das g-Strophanthin ist, als Rhamnose-Glykosid, durch Sauren weit schwerer spaltbar als viele andere Herzgifte, z. B. die meisten Digitalis-Glykoside, die als Zuckerkomponente Desoxyzu c k e r enthalten. Auch die enzymatische Spaltung, die von J a c o b s und Bigelow2) versucht nnrde, blieb ohne Erfolg. Es ist nunmehr gelungen, mit Hilfe einer besonders milden Spaltungsmethode -Chlorwasserstoff in kaltem Acetondas g-Str~phanthidin~) zu gewinnen, und zwar in einer Ausbeute bis zu 80%(1. Theorie. Acad. Sciences 106, 1011 [1888]) gibt an, das Glykosid zunachst aus dem Holz und den Wurzeln von Acocanthera Ouabaio gewonnen zu haben; wenig spater erhielt er es aus einer Strophanthusart (Compt. rend. Acad. Sciences 107, 1162 [1888]). Dann fand es T h o m s in Samen, die sicher von Strophanthus gratus stammten (NotizbIatt d . Bot. Gartens in Berlin. 1900, S . 6 0 -6 3 ; Ber. dtsch. pharmaz. Ges. 14, 114 [1904]); er brachte den Nanien g -S t r o p h a n t h i nzum Unterschied von andern Strophanthinenin Vorschlag. Unter dieser Bezeiehnung ist das Glykosid in Deutschland offizinell; d a es tatsachlich ausschlieI3lich ails Strophanthussamen hergcstellt wird, gebrauchen wir diesen Namen, obgleich es in1 Ausland gewiihnlich Ouabain genannt wird. *) A r n a u d , Compt. rend.
