Dungarpur is one of the most backward districts of Rajasthan (India) having 70.8 % of populations are tribal. Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus), Onion (Allium cepa L.) and Brinjal (Solanum melongena L.) are the three major vegetable crops grown in the district. Farm Science Centre known as Krishi Vigyan Kendra laid down front line demonstrations on these three vegetable crops under NAIP project by introducing improved and hybrid varieties and applying scientific package of practices in their cultivation. The productivity and economic returns of okra, onion and brinjal in improved technologies were calculated and compared with the corresponding farmer's practices (local checks). All the three vegetable crops recorded higher gross returns, net return and benefit cost ratio in improved technologies as compared to the plots where farmers were using traditional practices in their cultivation. It is suggested that location-specific integrated approaches would be needed to bridge the productivity gap of the vegetable crops grown in the district.

A field experiment was conducted at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dungarpur (Rajasthan) during summer seasons of 2010 and 2011 on sandy clay loam soil to investigate the effect of phosphorus (control, 10, 20, 40 and 60 kg P2O5 ha-1) and sulphur (control, 15, 30 and 45 kg S ha-1) application on NPK and S uptake by green gram [Vigna radiata (L) Wilczek]. Increasing levels of phosphorus up to 60 kg P2O5 ha-1 resulted in significantly higher grain (745 kg ha-1) and stover  (1245 kg ha-1) yields and uptake of NPK and S  by grain, stover and the whole plant over lower levels of phosphorus during both the years of the study as well as on pooled basis. But it was at par with 40 kg P2O5 ha-1 in respect to S uptake by grain during 2011, S uptake by stover during both the years and total S uptake during 2011. 45 kg S ha-1 produced significantly higher grain (743 kg ha-1) and stover (12264 kg ha-1) yields and uptake of NPK and S by grain, stover as well as total uptake over lower levels of sulphur during both the years of the investigation and on pooled basis. Interaction effect was significant in respect to total NPK and S uptake on pooled basis. SUMMARY :A field experiment was conducted at Agronomy farm, College of Agriculture, Bikaner during Rabi season, 2010-11 on loamy sand soil to investigate the effect of phosphorus (0, 20, 40 and 60 kg P 2 O 5 ha -1 ), molybdenum (0.0, 0.5 and 1.0 kg Mo ha -1 ) and PSB (without inoculation and with inoculation) on yield attributes, yield and seed quality of fenugreek (Trigonella foenum graecum L.). The application of phosphorus upto 40 kg P 2 O 5 ha -1 resulted in significantly higher number of branches per plant, chlorophyll content at flowering stage, nodules per plant, pods per plant, seeds per pod, seed and straw yield over their respective preceding levels (0 and 20 P 2 O 5 ha -1 ) but it was found at par with 60 kg P 2 O 5 ha -1 in respect to branches per plant, chlorophyll content at flowering stage, nodules per plant, pods per plant, seeds per pod, seed and straw yield of fenugreek. Among different levels of molybdenum, 0.5 kg Mo ha -1 gave significantly higher branches per plant, chlorophyll content at flowering stage, nodules per plant, pods per plant, seeds per pod, seed and straw yield over respective lower level. PSB inoculation significantly enhanced the branches per plant, chlorophyll content at flowering stage, nodules per plant, pods per plant, seeds per pod, seed and straw yield of fenugreek. The test weight increased with the successive levels of applied phosphorus, molybdenum and PSB inoculation but difference could not reach the level of significance. The interaction effect of phosphorus × PSB was found significantly higher branches per plant, pod per plant and seed yield (1568 kg ha -1 ) recorded with treatment combination 40 kg P 2 O 5 ha -1 + with inoculation of PSB which was at par with other treatment combination 60 kg P 2 O 5 ha -1 + with inoculation of PSB.
