Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to examine the practice of sensemaking in organizational conflict. It found out that during conflict, the sensemaking process has an important role in influencing the progress of the conflict. A conflict that has been evolving for years is inclined to turn into a crisis. The roles of the organizational and societal culture are therefore very important in KKSH. They do not only determine the communication process of the organizations with its stakeholders, but it also proposes the resolution for the conflict. Methodology: This study was based on a qualitative case study, a one-year research project to examine the crisis com- munication of a family-based organization. In this study, a number of 14 in-depth- interview transcripts were analyzed by using the pattern matching. The unit analysis of this study only used one major instead of using many cases. Results: This study has the advantage in terms of descriptions of the sensemaking process in the crisis caused by an organizational conflict. The findings of this study indicate the significance of cultural elements in the crisis communication caused by conflict among the organizational members. The use of local culture issue, therefore, fulfills the need for the crisis communication research based on the non-western approach. Implications: Therefore, the characteristics of the factors behind the conflict were investigated. Based on the study, it is highly recommended that in determining the solution of internal conflict, all the involved parties should understand the culture of KKSH. It is very important since the culture is already embedded in the attitude and behavior of all internal family members.
<p>BACKGROUND<br />Lead acetate (Pb) inhibits heme biosynthesis through inhibition of δ-aminolevulinic acid dehydrogenase (δ-ALAD), copro porphyrinogen<br />oxidase, and ferro chelatase. Zinc supplementation increases lead-binding<br />metallothionein proteins. The purpose of this study was to find evidence that zinc supplementation prior to lead exposure improves heme biosynthesis in rats</p><p>METHODS<br />This was a randomized post-test only control-group design study involving 28 rats assigned to 4 groups (1 control and 3 treatment groups). The treatment groups were supplemented with zinc at doses of 0.2, 0.4, and<br />0.8 mg daily by gavage for 3 weeks. From week 4 to 13, all groups were<br />exposed to lead 0.5 g/kg BW/day by gavage. At the end of week 13, δ-<br />ALAD, erythrocyte protoporphyrin (EPP), and heme concentrations were <br />determined by means of ELISA. One-way ANOVA, followed by<br />Bonferroni’s test was used to analyse the data.</p><p>RESULTS<br />Mean δ-ALAD concentrations decreased from the control group down to<br />treatment group 3 (0.24 ± 0.20; 0.15 ± 0.15; 0.12 ± 0.11; 0.05 ± 0.06 ng/<br />mean per unit). Mean EPP concentrations decreased from the control group down to treatment group 3 (1.96 ± 0.50; 1.24 ± 0.24; 1.03 ± 0.05; 0.62 ± 0.16 ng/mL). Mean heme concentrations increased from the control<br />group up to treatment group 3 (8.07 ± 2.64; 10.11 ± 2.27; 10.04 ± 1.65;<br />11.41 ± 2.58 μM). ANOVA followed by Bonferroni showed that EPP concentrations differed significantly between the control group and treatment group 3 (p=0.00).</p><p>CONCLUSION<br />Zinc supplementation prior to lead exposure improves heme biosynthesis <br />in rats exposed to lead.</p>
Digital technology cannot be dammed or avoided, moreover, the current generation of children is a native digital generation is those who are born very close to the world of digital technology such as smartphones, laptops, digital applications, internet access, and others. This may affect the attitudes and behaviors of children in both positive and negative impacts. However, we can act wisely, not by alienating or avoiding children from technology but by providing education about technology (digital literacy) and directing video game access to positive video games that are beneficial. The method used in this research is Research and Development with a modified SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) development model in the development of Augmented Reality (AR) educational games. This study also uses a pre-test-post-test group matching design to analyze the increase of elementary school students’ knowledge in learning about Indonesian culture. The measurement results of student learning outcomes are carried out by giving tests in the form of multiple choice. The statistical analysis used in this study is the validity test and Wilcoxon Signed Rank test. Validity testing shows 93.33% of the questionnaire items are valid. The results of the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test analysis obtained a significant value of 0,00 <0.05, then it was stated that there were differences in the average student learning outcomes for pre-test with posttest (increased). This research concludes that after the use of AR Edugame learning media, it has an influence compared to before learning with the media. This shows there is an increase in student learning outcomes.
Research aims: As the dust of the COVID-19 pandemic settles, one apparent theme of the resulting economic crisis is uncertainties. The uncertainties especially hurt the MSMEs, which often possess limited organizational resources and capabilities. Referred to the ability to evolve as the environments do, resilience has been seen as a mantra for MSMEs’ survival and success. The purpose of the current study is twofold. Firstly, this study seeks to examine the effect of innovation, resource capability, and social capital on the resilience of MSMEs in Indonesia. Secondly, this study is aimed to examine the relationship between company performance and resilience.Design/Methodology/Approach: Employing a quantitative approach, hypothesis testing utilized Partial Least Square (PLS) data analysis techniques with the SmartPLS 3.0 program. The population in the current inquiry was MSMEs owned by families in Solo Raya, Indonesia. The number of MSMEs involved was 215 MSMEs owned by families.Research findings: Resource capability, innovation, and social capital were found to positively influence the performance of MSMEs, which in turn affected the resilience of MSMEs.Theoretical contribution/Originality: The research findings provide a business resilience construct in third-world, grassroots enterprises where social and cultural factors dominate.Practitioner/Policy implication: Governmental programs, such as exhibitions or workshops, aimed at strengthening MSMEs’ social capital and internal capabilities and cultivating innovation culture are encouraged to assist MSMEs’ survival during economic hardships.Research limitation/Implication: This study only focused on MSMEs in the Greater Solo Region of Central Java, Indonesia, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Further studies thus are encouraged to test the results in other economic and cultural settings.
Diamond Printing is one of the largest offset printing companies with 32 years of experience and is located in the city of Surabaya, East Java. Data from HRD managers explained that there was no report from observations related to employee work effectiveness in terms of coordination and synergy between employees as seen from the communication and collaboration relationships. The absence of data related to the effectiveness of the performance of CV employees. Diamond Printing in terms of communication network mapping is one of the obstacles faced by HRD in determining KPI (key performance indicator). By using the Social Network Analysis (SNA) method with the help of UCINET 6 software, it is hoped that some employees will have advantages, especially in collaboration and communication in group network structures. There are three parameters used in SNA, including: degree centrality, closeness centrality, and betweenness centrality. This study involved 104 respondents (the entire population) with a sampling technique using snowball sampling and a questionnaire as a means of collecting data. The results of this study indicate that most of the collaboration and communication network interactions are dominated by manager level employees and department heads. Based on these findings, an innovation is needed from all stakeholders from CV. Diamond Printing in developing effective communication methods between its members.
