INTRODUCTION: Congenital syphilis is caused by the vertical transmission of bacteria, Treponema pallidum, from nontreated or inappropriately treated pregnant to the fetus.
Este trabalho objetiva apresentar o ensaio fotográfico das paredes do antigo presídio Desembargador Luiz de Oliveira Souza, em Arapiraca, Alagoas, Brasil. Trata-se de um produto do projeto de extensão intitulado “Itinerários, mostras de vidas”, cujo objetivo é debater a realidade social sob a ótica do diálogo entre diferentes formas de expressão. Após desativação, o prédio foi doado à Universidade Federal de Alagoas (Ufal), sendo incorporado ao campus Arapiraca. Assim, surgiu a necessidade de manter um registro post factum do que um dia foi lugar de cumprimentos de penas. Trata-se de um ensaio capaz de revelar o cotidiano dos indivíduos que lá estiveram. Sob as lentes da câmera, as imagens contam-nos uma história.
Introdução: O novo coronavírus, ou SARS-CoV-2, surgiu no fim de 2019 na China e se disseminou rapidamente, resultando num surto mundial. A pandemia da COVID-19, como foi chamada a doença causada pelo vírus, foi declarada pela Organização Mundial da Saúde em março e ultrapassou a marca de um milhão de infectados e de 50 mil mortos no Brasil após quatro meses do primeiro caso. Objetivo: Analisar a evolução dos indicadores sobre a COVID-19 no Nordeste do Brasil e correlacioná-la ao nível de isolamento social registrado em cada estado nordestino. Método: Trata-se de um estudo transversal com dados coletados a partir de painéis epidemiológicos do Ministério da Saúde e da Universidade de São Paulo acerca do número de casos e óbitos e, também, da empresa de geolocalização Inloco que calculou os níveis de isolamento social no Brasil. As variáveis analisadas foram: taxa de incidência, taxa de mortalidade, coeficiente de letalidade e índice de isolamento social. Resultados: Os indicadores são interdependentes e há certa correlação entre os níveis de isolamento social e as taxas de incidência e mortalidade, sendo correlações fracas ou moderadas. Conclusões: As diferenças entre os estados nordestinos, principalmente as sociais, refletem em seus indicadores e no impacto da pandemia em cada um deles, sendo um desafio posto aos gestores de saúde.
Introdução: A sífilis é um agravo sexual causado pela bactéria Treponema pallidum, podendo causar defeitos congênitos quando há transmissão vertical da grávida infectada para seu concepto. No Brasil e no estado de Alagoas, caracteriza-se como problema de saúde pública a ser controlado, principalmente na Atenção Primária à Saúde que conta com a Estratégia Saúde da Família para o diagnóstico e o tratamento da sífilis na gestação, prevenindo os casos congênitos. Objetivo: Analisar as correlações entre a cobertura da Estratégia Saúde da Família e os indicadores da Sífilis Congênita no estado de Alagoas, Brasil, entre 2009 e 2018. Método: Trata-se de um estudo transversal retrospectivo com dados secundários do Ministério da Saúde sobre os indicadores de Sífilis Congênita e cobertura da Estratégia Saúde da Família em Alagoas. Utilizou-se o software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences – versão 25 e as correlações foram consideradas significantes com p-valor < 0,05. Resultados: Entre 2009-2018, notificou-se 3.407 casos de Sífilis Congênita em Alagoas e 73,6% das gestantes realizam o pré-natal. Contudo, observou-se que o momento do diagnóstico da sífilis materna não ocorreu durante o pré-natal; o tratamento materno não foi realizado ou realizado de forma inadequada; e apenas 9% das parcerias sexuais das gestantes foram tratadas. Conclusão: Em Alagoas, existem lacunas para o diagnóstico oportuno e o tratamento efetivo da sífilis na gestação, mesmo com a disponibilidade de insumos e protocolos assistenciais.
