This research intends to identify the knowledge of students of the Federal Institute of Piauí (IFPI) about the theme "Sustainable Greenways", as well as their opinion about the existence and necessity of them in Teresina-PI, using the Teresina Campus sidewalks reform Center (IFPI) as a basis for reflection. The "sustainable green sidewalks" consist of a drainage sidewalk model, consisting of permeable pavements and vegetation, in order to prevent floods, climatize the cities and aesthetically improve them. This research originated from the subject "Integrator Project", in the context of the initial training of teachers of the Biological Sciences Degree Course. The research was qualitative in nature using the structured interview, where it is possible to more reflexively absorb the idea presented by the interviewee (Marconi & Lakatos, 1999, p.94). The target audience was the students of the technical courses integrated to the middle of the Central Teresina Campus (IFPI) that traveled through the selected regions in the outside of the institution, where pavements are found with permeable paving of an ecological nature. Regarding the students' knowledge of this model of sidewalk, we obtained the expected result in relation to the simple concept of green sidewalks, due to their nomenclature, which refers to nature. This relationship was observed in most interviews. Although a large part of the respondents answered positively about what the ecological sidewalks would be perceived through reports that the technical concept is not fully understood. In the context of the reform of the sidewalks, the topic of tree felling was considered negative due to the natural climate of the city, where according to reports, caused a rise in the temperature of the region. It was possible to verify through the research that among the interviewed students the majority did not know how to interpret the proposal according to their conceptions about the "Green and Accessible Sidewalks" project. This theme should be used by educational institutions, since it is not a familiar theme among the youngsters and adolescents questioned, but it is well accepted as a sustainable and accessible project because it is suitable for the city.
