Objetivo: Este trabalho objetivou, por meio da estrutura anatômica e da condutividade hidráulica da madeira associadas às condições do ambiente, auxiliar na seleção de populações de Nectandra oppositifolia (Lauraceae) em atividades silviculturais baseadas em ações coordenadas de manejo da flora. Métodos: A espécie estudada foi coleta em diferentes formações do bioma atlântico em Santa Catarina. Amostras de madeira foram retiradas à altura do peito e preparadas para a obtenção de lâminas histológicas nas secções convencionais para anatomia da madeira e material dissociado. Atributos quantitativos de lenho foram medidos e comparados por teste multivariado e análise de componentes principais. Índices de condutividade hidráulica e de plasticidade foram calculados. Resultados: A caracterização hidráulica de N. oppositifolia, com populações distribuídas em Restinga e nas subformações da Floresta Ombrófila Densa, aponta a FOD de Terras Baixas como o ambiente mais propício ao desenvolvimento de ações de manejo da espécie para fins de aproveitamento silvicultural, tanto no uso da madeira quanto na arborização pública, uma vez que nesta condição a madeira apresenta maior segurança no transporte hídrico e, consequentemente, com reflexo positivo no crescimento do corpo vegetal.
Este estudo identificou as estratégias ecológicas de dez espécies lenhosas de mata atlântica, por meio do método CSR. A área de estudo compreende um remanescente de floresta ombrófila densa, pertencente ao Jardim Botânico da Univille, localizado no município de Joinville, Santa Catarina. As espécies avaliadas foram: Inga edulis (Fabaceae), Guapira opposita (Nyctaginaceae), Hyeronima alchorneoides (Euphorbiaceae), Leandra carassana (Melastomataceae), Piper aduncum (Piperaceae), Piper cernuum (Piperaceae), Piper officinalis (Piperaceae), Psychotria carthaginensis (Rubiaceae), Psychotria nuda (Rubiaceae) e Pleroma clavatum (Melastomataceae). 80% das espécies exibiram estratégia ruderal tolerante ao estresse (S/SR), com elevada representatividade da estratégia tolerante ao estresse (S, 65 a 76%) e baixa de ruderalismo (R, 23 a 33%). Apenas duas espécies mostraram[1]se ruderalistas, com elevado R (≥ 91%). Todas as espécies apresentaram baixa estratégia como competidoras, com C sem expressividade (0 a 9%). Das espécies estudadas, as de hábito arbustivo corroboraram a estratégia esperada de tolerância ao estresse, enquanto as espécies arbóreas não corresponderam ao esperado, evidenciando tendência ao ruderalismo (H. alchoneiodes) e tolerância ao estresse (I. edulis). Os dados obtidos ajudam na compreensão da montagem e do funcionamento das comunidades biológicas da mata atlântica, podendo ser utilizados em ações de conservação da biodiversidade.
