A field experiment project was conducted in Karawang District, Indonesia from April to October, 2016 in the search of efforts to optimize degraded steep upland paddy field and paddy yield. The experinment was designed under no tillage practices and statistical randomized block were applied with two factors, that is, banana leaf mulch, and worms where each factor is varied into four levels of treatments with three times-replication, respectively. Results showed that both banana leaf mulch and worms significantly improved the soil physic properties of degraded land such as reduced soil bulk density by 28%; increased soil water capacity by 144%; increased total porosity by 24.5% ; and soil permeability from 1.12 to 29.34 cm/h. While, the regression/corelation of this improvement to the paddy (dry-land paddy rice) tiller and yield is strong at R 2 = 0.54 and R 2 = 0.72, respectively.

Sifat fisik tanah memegang peranan penting dalam ketersediaan unsur hara dan air bagi tanaman. Tanah kering adalah salah satu tanah marginal yang memiliki potensi untuk digunakan sebagai lahan budidaya Jagung. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Rumah Kasa PT. Pupuk Kujang Cikampek. Penelitian diawali dengan pembuatan kompos plus dengan menggunakan limbah media tanam jamur merang yang diperkaya dengan Azotobacter sp dan Pseudomonas sp. Penelitian dirancang dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok Faktorial. Faktor pertama adalah dosis pupuk organik dengan taraf O1 = tanpa kompos plus (0 ton kompos plus ha-1), O2 = 50 % dosis anjuran (10 ton kompos plus ha-1) dan O3 = 100 % dosis anjuran (20 ton kompos plus ha-1). Faktor kedua adalah volume air dengan 4 taraf perlakuan yaituV1 = 25% volume air kapasitas lapang, V2 = 75% volume air kapasitas lapang, V3 = 100% volume airkapasitas lapang dan V4 = 150% volume air kapasitas lapang. Perhitungan kebutuhan air kapasitas lapang akan dilakukan dengan metode gravimetri. Sifat fisika tanah dianalisa dengan mengacu pada metode analisa Balai Besar Litbang Sumberdaya Lahan Pertanian tahun 2006. Hasil penelitian menunjukan penggunaan kompos plus dapat meningatkan kualitas sifat fisik tanah pada kegiatan budidaya tanaman jagung dilahan kering, seperti kadar air, bulk density, porositas tanah. Penggunaan kompos plus mampu mensubtitusi kebutuhan air tanaman Jagung terlihat dengan pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman Jagung pada kondisi cekaman air namun diberikan kompos plus tetap memberikan performa dan hasil yang baik.
The research objectives were to discovered how’s Lumbricus rubellus and Organic mulching able to replenished soil physics characteristic of Inceptisol Karawang. It also been studied that soil loss to water erosion is able to be predicted by using these parameters. As a results, linearly Lumbricus and mulch were abled to reduce bulk density value, and also soil permeability. These research practices is one of tools to predict level of erosion. Moreover, Lumbricus and organic mulching are “eco-friendly” agent in a system of soil tillage-less.
Koperasi Unit Desa (KUD) adalah lembaga pedesaan yang memiliki peran penting dalam pembangungan pertanian. Namun saat ini kemandirian KUD belum kuat karena KUD masih merupakan kepanjangan tangan pemerintah untuk melaksanakan program pembangunan pedesaan terutama di sektor pertanian. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mendapatkan faktor-faktor kunci manajemen KUD serta menentukan besar pengaruh masing-masing faktor tersebut terhadap kemandirian KUD. Penelitian dilakukan terhadap 10 KUD Kabupaten Garut yang berhasil mengembangkan KUD di tingkat nasional melalui survai lapangan dengan bantuan kuesioner untuk mendapatkan data primer. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan menggunakan Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) untuk menentukan besarnya pengaruh faktor kunci berupa faktor laten endogen dan eksogen terhadap keberhasilan dalam manajemen KUD. Analisis variabel-variabel yang diteliti menghasilkan l5 faktor kunci laten endogenous dan 80 faktor kunci latent exogenous. Seluruh faktor kunci tersebut direkomendasikan untuk digunakan sebagai pedoman dalam upaya pemberdayaan KUD ke arah kemandirian.
