The purpose of this paper is to analyze the constitutive figure of the Islamophobic discourse: the Muslim dissident. We establish a typology of the main figures that fall under the definition of “Muslim dissidents,” as well as of the social context through which they operate. We identify dissident Muslims as a social group through their intellectual contributions and compare their trajectories as well as their social attributes. This allows us to analyze their position and the medium of their intellectual statements.
