Post-condensation cyclization of Ugi adducts from the condensation of 2-formylindole, isocyanides, amines, and 3-chloropropanoic acid was performed selectively in the presence of K 2 CO 3 to form a series of novel substituted c-lactams.
The condensation of 2‐formylindole (I), 3‐chloropropanoic acid (II), isocyanides (III), and various amines (IV) leads to the Ugi adducts (V) which undergo post‐condensation cyclization in the presence of K2CO3 to form a series of novel substituted γ‐lactams (VI).
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
