It is known that the Akar Kuning plant contains various bioactive compounds, one of the most famous being berberine. Akar Kuning are lianas, up to 20 m long, living in lowlands up to 800 m above sea level (asl). The leaves are thick and strong like skin, oval shaped, blunt not sharp, leaf width 7 cm to 20 cm, glossy top surface and long stalk. The flowers are housed in two small sizes arranged in a series of glabrous 20 cm to 50 cm, greenish-white or yellowish-white with buds. 5 The wood is yellow, its purpose is to boil the stems to treat jaundice, digestion, intestinal worms, fever, and canker sores. The fruit, which is yellow in color, can be used to anesthetize fish. 1 This study uses an ethnomedicine approach. Ethnomedicine is the perception and conception ABSTRACT Indonesia is one of the countries that has the largest tropical forest land in the world, this makes Indonesia rich in diversity of flora and fauna. This diversity produces a variety of cultures, traditions and local wisdom. One of the local wisdoms of the people of West Sumatra is the use and utilization of the biodiversity around it as a medicine for various diseases. The type of medicinal plant that is the focus of this research is the type of Akar Kuning plant (Arcangelisia flava Merr.). This research is an educational research conducted using an ethnoscience approach, meaning that it is based on the indigenous knowledge of the local community. This study aims to reconstruct knowledge from a cultural / community perspective in the health sector. which later will become a knowledge with scientific explanation. The data were obtained through direct observation to the research location regarding indigenous knowledge about the Akar Kuning plant and also based on laboratory test data on antibacterial activity carried out in the biology laboratory of Semarang State University. All data obtained will be analyzed and also strengthened by various sources. The analysis concluded that the Akar Kuning (Arcangelisia flava Merr.) Plant contains bioactive compounds that act as antibacterials, thus inhibiting bacterial growth. This is evidenced by the inhibition zone diameter data produced during laboratory tests showing the results that the Yellow Root plant extract (Arcangelisia flava Merr.
Timbal adalah logam berat yang bersifat racun bagi lingkungan dan tubuh manusia. Logam berat ini dieliminasi oleh ginjal sebagai urin, sehingga jika terjadi paparan timbal yang lama maka dapat menyebabkan kerusakan pada ginjal. Daun duwet mengandung antioksidan seperti flavonoid, myricetin, quercetin, isoquercetin yang dapat menghambat dan memperlambat radikal bebas. tujuan: Mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak daun duwet terhadap gambaran histologi ginjal tikus yang diintoksikasi timbal asetat. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan studi eksperimental dengan rancangan randomized post test only control group menggunakan 15 ekor tikus yang telah dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok yaitu kelompok kontrol negatif (K-) yang hanya diberikan pakan standar, kelompok kontrol positif (K+) yang diberikan pakan standar serta diberi timbal asetat 40 mg/kgBB secara oral, terakhir kelompok perlakuan (P1) yang diberikan pakan standar, dipaparkan timbal asetat 40 mg/kgBB, dan ekstrak daun duwet dosis 150 mg/kgBB. Penelitian dilaksanakan selama 28 hari, kemudian pada hari ke-29 tikus dimatikan kemudian diambil ginjalnya untuk dibuat menjadi preparat dan dibaca menggunakan skor Barthel Manja. Hasil: Terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara kelompok kontrol positif (K+) dengan kelompok yang diberikan perlakuan (P1), secara statistik didapatkan nilai p < 0,05. Simpulan: Terdapatnya pengaruh pemberian ekstrak daun duwet terhadap gambaran histologi ginjal tikus yang diintoksikasi timbal asetat.
Peronema canescens leaves are one of the natural ingredients that have the potential to increase the immune system. This study determine the immunostimulant effect which identify the effectiveness of phagocytosis in killing pathogens using the carbon clearance method. The parameters that used in this study were the number of leukocyte cells. Thirty male mice used in this study which randomly divided into six groups. First group is given Na CMC 0.5% as negative control. The second group is given propolis 195 mg/kgBW as comparison group. The third group is given suspension extract 10 mg/kg BW. The fourth group is given extract suspension 50 mg/kg BW. The fifth group is given extract suspension 100 mg/kg BW. Whereas, the sixth group is given extract suspension 200 mg/kg BW. All of groups were treated for seven days and on the 8th day the mice were euthanized and their blood was taken to observe the leukocyte cells and then the tails were injected with carbon intravenously. The data were analyzed statistically with ANOVA. The result shows a significant difference (p<0.05) against the negative control group in carbon clereance and the total number of leukocytes in male white mice. It can be concluded that there is an immunostimulatory effect on the ethanol extract of sungkai leaves (Peronema canescens. Jack) in male white mice.
Generasi Z atau yang dikenal generasi-net, generasi remaja yang akan meneruskan generasi milenial saat ini diharapkan dapat membuat era baru dalam perkembangan teknologi. Dengan pengaruh yang kuat dari teknologi internet ditakutkan tidak hanya mengubah pola pikir generasi z tetapi dapat pula menjadikan sesuatu yang tabu menjadi tradisi yang ilegal dikalangan masyarakat. Seperti berkembangnya kelompok lesbian, gay, biseksual, dan transgender atau yang dikenal dengan sebutan LGBT. Badan Perencana Pembangunan Daerah Sumatera Barat melakukan survey di akhir 2017, Provinsi Sumatera Barat (Sumbar) menjadi daerah terbanyak di Indonesia yang dihuni oleh kelompok LGBT. Diperkirakan angka sementara mencapai puluhan ribu LGBT di Sumbar. Daerah Padang Pariaman memiliki kasus LGBT terbanyak setelah kota Padang. Kegiatan edukasi terkait kesehatan reproduksi yang dikemas dengan baik dan menarik diharapkan mampu memberikan pengetahuan yang cukup untuk remaja agar tidak sampai melakukan hal-hal yang akan mengganggu kesehatan reproduksinya kelak. Kegiatan tersebut telah dilaksanakan oleh Tim Pengabdian Masyarakat Bagian Histologi dan Radiologi Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Andalas yang berjudul “Edukasi Kesehatan Reproduksi Remaja generasi z dengan metode edugame pada Siswa SMA 1 Batang Anai, Padang Pariaman. Pada pengabdian masyarakat ini didapatkan hasil bahwa siswa memiliki persamaan persepsi mengenai bahaya LGBT dan free sex. Metode edugame dan penyuluhan yang disertai dengan video animasi ini menjadi salah satu kegiatan persuasif dengan metode efektif yang dapat mengajak siswa agar menyadari bahaya LGBT dan free sex. Due to the strong influence of technology, the internet is feared not only can change the mindset of generations, but also can turn something taboo into an illegal tradition among citizen, such as the development of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgender people, also known as LGBT. The West Sumatra Regional Development Planning Agency conducted a survey at the end of 2017. It is obtained that West Sumatra is the largest province in Indonesia inhabited by LGBT groups. It is estimated temporary numbers reach tens of thousands of LGBT in West Sumatra. Padang Pariaman district has the most LGBT cases after Padang city. Educational, well-packaged and interesting health activities are needed to provide enough knowledge for adolescents to avoid doing things that will interfere their reproductive health later. This activity has been implemented by community service team held by the Histology and Radiology Department of Faculty of Medicine Andalas University entitled "Education of Adolescent Reproductive Health for Generation Z with Edugame method for students of Senior High School 1 Batang Anai, Pariaman”. In this community service activity is obtained students have the same perception about the dangers of LGBT and free sex. Edugame method and counseling with animated videos is one of the effective methods to attract students sto aware the dangers of LGBT and free sex. AbstrakDiet tinggi kolesterol ini akan meningkatkan kadar Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) sebagai penanda hiperlipidemia yang berdampak pada terjadinya aterosklerosis. Transforming Growth Factor β (TGF-β) memiliki peranan dalam proses terjadinya aterosklerosis ini. Keterlibatannya dalam hiperlipidemia sebagai faktor risiko utama aterosklerosis belum banyak diketahui. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menentukan pengaruh lama permberian diet tinggi kolesterol terhadap kadar LDL dan TGF-β pada tikus putih (Rattus novergicus) strain Wistar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode post test only control group design yang dilakukan terhadap tikus Rattus novergicus jantan umur 3-4 bulan, berat 200-250 gram. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 24 ekor tikus yang dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok, yaitu kelompok kontrol, A, B dan C. Selain kelompok kontrol, kelompok tikus diberi diet tinggi kolesterol berupa lemak kambing 10%, telur puyuh 5%, selama 10 hari untuk kelompok A, 20 hari untuk kelompok B dan 30 hari untuk kelompok C. Pada akhir percobaan darah tikus diambil dan dilakukan pemeriksaan kadar LDL dan TGF-β serum. Hasil penelitian diolah secara bivariat. Analisis yang digunakan yaitu uji oneway Anova. Hasil penelitian diketahui terdapat pengaruh lama pemberian diet tinggi kolesterol terhadap peningkatan kadar LDL serum tikus dengan p=0,01 (p<0,05). Terdapat pengaruh lama pemberian diet tinggi kolesterol terhadap penurunan kadar TGF-β dimana p=0,04 (p>0,05). Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh lama pemberian diet tinggi kolesterol terhadap kadar LDL dan tikus putih Rattus novergicus strain Wistar.Kata kunci: diet tinggi kolesterol, LDL, TGF-β AbstractHigh-cholesterol diet will increase Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) levels which impact to atherosclerosis. The objective of this study was to observe the effect of duration of giving high-cholesterol diet on Low Density Lipoprotein and Transforming Growth Factor β levels white rats (Rattus novergicus) Wistar strain. This study uses post-test only control group design, carried out on male rats Rattus novergicus 3-4 months, weight 200-250 grams. The study sample consisted of 24 rats were divided into 4 groups: control group, group A, group B and group C. Except the control group, the group of rats given a high-cholesterol diet in the form of goat fat 10%, 5% quail eggs for 10 days to group A, group B for 20 days and 30 days for group C. At the end of the experiment blood was taken and examined LDL and TGF-β levels. Results were analyzed using bivariate. The analysis is oneway Anova test. The results of research known to have effect of duration on giving high-cholesterol diet to increase serum LDL levels of rats with p = 0.01 (p<0.05). This is the same case with TGF-β, which there was effect of duration on giving high-diet cholesterol diet to decrease serum TGF-β levels of rats where p = 0.04 (p>0.05). This study concludes that there are effect of duration on giving high-cholesterol diet to levels of LDL and TGF-β white rats Rattus novergicus Wistar strain.Keywords: high-cholesterol diet, LDL, TGF β
