It is characterized as being a narrative review from researching terms such as "Primary Health Care", "Basic Health Care", "Epidemiology" and "Epidemiologic Studies" referred to "Diabetes Mellitus", in the scientific data bases SCIELO, LILACS and PUBMED. Results: This research revealed a variation between 2% and 13% of Diabetes in Brazilian population, in these last three decades. It showed larger prevalence in women, in people with overweight/obesity, in sedentary individuals, in people with low schooling level and also this sickness diagnosis is more common in aged population. It revealed the importance of the educative practices in Primary Health Care, which objective is to reinforce selfcare. Final considerations: Incidence and prevalence of Diabetes are increasing in Brazil. In Primary Health Care such pathology must be accompanied by a capable team for developing clinical care and educative practices.
Purpose: To investigate perception of noise, occurrence of auditory and extra-auditory effects and teachers' quality of life of elementary and secondary education in public schools. Methods: This study was carried out with 57 teachers from 15 public schools, both men and women, who answered to a questionnaire prepared for this occasion, questioning about occupational profile and hearing health. They were also submitted to an abbreviated version of Quality of Life-Bref Questionnaire (WHOQOL-Bref). Results: Among the teachers participating in this study, many of them had some auditory or extra-auditory effect. The teachers without anxiety or headache had better scores in psychological and environmental domains and in the general scores of quality of life of WHOQOL-Bref -while those without intolerance to loud sounds and tinnitus had better quality of life in the physical and social domains. Conclusion:The teachers proved that they knew the consequences of noise exposure, but did not consider it as an occupational hazard. Among the effects investigated, the presence of tinnitus, intolerance to intense sounds, anxiety and headache were related to worse quality of life. Keywords: Noise effects; Hearing; Quality of life; Public Health; Education RESUMO Objetivo: Investigar a percepção do ruído, a ocorrência de efeitos auditivos e extra-auditivos e a qualidade de vida de professores do ensino fundamental e médio de escolas públicas.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the occurrence of headache among women complaining of dizziness and to verify the relationship between the presence of headache and the results of posturography and the handicap caused by dizziness. It is an observational, cross-sectional research, quantitative analysis, performed through a database of 216 exams were selected 49 of women complaining of dizziness, between November 2016 and November 2017. The patients were submitted to anamnesis, Foam-Laser Dynamic Posturography (FLP) and the Dizziness Handicap Inventory (DHI) quality of life questionnaire. Comparative inferential analysis was performed using the parametric Student T Test and the non-parametric Mann-Whitney U Test. the sample presented mean age of 57.7 years, all with complaints of dizziness, of which 30 were of long duration, six of short duration and 13 did not know to refer. Twenty-four patients reported headache, 14 of them bilateral. Nineteen women had a diagnosis of vestibular dysfunction. In the posturographic evaluation, the values, on average, were lower than the PFL standard without relation to the presence of headache. However, in relation to quality of life the total sample presented a severe participation restriction with a significant relation for the group with headache. The presence of headache was an aggravation of the participation restriction caused by dizziness, although it did not significantly influence postural balance in the present sample
Optimal human performance depends on integrated sensorimotor and cognitive functions, both known to be extremely sensitive to sleep changes. The present study aims to verify the occurrence of sleep-related complaints in a sample of dizzy subjects and to compare the results of the vestibulometry among them. This is a cross-sectional observational research with a quantitative approach, conducted with subjects treated at a Balancing Outpatient Clinic of a University Hospital, submitted to Foam Laser Dynamic Posturography (sensory organization test and sensory analysis), Computerized Vectoelectronystagmography (oculomotor and vestibular tests) and the Dizziness Handicap Inventory (DHI) questionnaire to verify the handicap caused by dizziness. The sample consisted of 29 (20.14%) men and 115 (79.86%) women, with a mean age of 58.36 years. Of the total, 83 (57.64%) had a history of regular sleep (RS) and 61 (42.36%) had irregular sleep (IS). In posturography, there was a relationship between SI and lower values in positions II, III, IV and V, as well as with the vestibular system, in the sensory analysis. In vectoelectronystagmography the results point to normality of oculomotor function and vestibular reflexes, with rare indications of central alteration. DHI domains were significantly smaller in SI, indicating greater handicap caused by dizziness. These results confirm a high frequency of sleep-related complaints in this population, mainly affecting vestibular information, but not related to reflexes, but probably to the processing of upper vestibular information.
