L'étude des marches régulières a permis de décrire le feuillet élémentaire, les positions des deux ensembles de sphères ainsi que le groupe d'espace du modèle théorique, P 6 3 /mmc. Ce type de structure, rare mais déjà observée dans deux opales A du Brésil [Gauthier et al., C. R. Acad. Sci. Paris, Ser. IIa 320 (1995) 373-379], s'apparente aux phases de Laves, de stoechiométrie AB 2 , dont les modèles sont MgCu 2 pour la variété cubique et MgZn 2 pour la variété hexagonale. Il semble que cette dernière puisse être privilégiée.
