The aim of this study is to determine the variables affecting the success of students. This research, which was conducted through the relational screening model, has a sampling of students who were selected from a middle city in Turkey. The schools are classified into three as low, medium and high. A total of 3491 students are selected by using the random stratified sampling model. The data were gathered by a survey which included 20 items developed by researchers. In this study, as a result of separate analysis on grade 7 and 8 students, similar conclusions are made. According to the findings of the research, the success of students who received preschool education is higher than those who did not. Also, students who went to private establishments longer are more successful than the students who went for a short time. Attending extra school courses has similar results as to going to the private school establishments. When shelter conditions are considered, it is found that students who live with their parents are more successful than those students who are boarding or living in dormitories. It is understood that the variables that affect 7 th and 8 th grade students' success most are "average amount of daily problem solved" and "the time spent in private establishments or school courses".

Ensuring children get to know their environment and gain correct information related to their problems by making them investigate their natural and socio-cultural environment as well as providing them with necessary information, skills and behaviors for environmental adaptation are among the main purposes of Life Sciences course. The concepts to be instilled in students in line with these purposes are important. Since concepts are mostly intellectual and non-physical, they can only exist tangibly through examples. This study aims to assess Primary School Students' Level of Understanding the Concepts of 2nd Grade Life Sciences Course Based on Different Variables. 17 concepts included in the 2nd Grade Life Sciences course within the subject of School Excitement were addressed within the study, and students were requested to define and exemplify these concepts. A total of 102 students from five different primary schools of upper-middle and lower socioeconomic classes located in Manisa and Istanbul were included in the study in line with the intentional maximum diversity sample selection. The answers given by students for each concept were categorized and analyzed in terms of liking or disliking home, school, technology and the course of Life Sciences.
This study delves into 169 social studies doctoral dissertations published from January 2012 to October 2015. The results of the included studies were qualitatively synthesized and presented in narrative form in the results section. In preliminary searching for systematic reviews concerning social studies, we concentrated on 169 doctoral dissertations published in the United States and Turkey, based on the following inclusion criteria: a) Only publications in the United States and Turkey between the years of 2012 and 2015 were included; b) Search was conducted by using such central keywords as "social studies". From the initial search of electronic databases, 169 doctoral dissertations (130 from the U.S.; 39 from Turkey) were found. While conducting international comparisons of school curricula, little attention has been paid to the comparisons on doctoral levels. Based on the comparative findings, this study concludes with some insights into how social studies doctoral dissertations can differ across countries. Similarities regarding key words and topics used were not observed. In a sense, this study aims to achieve a mutual understanding and awareness that might encourage Turkish scholars in regards with the research focus, keywords, and above all, their contribution to the field of study.
