A esquistossomose é uma doença endêmica no Brasil, causada pelo helminto Schistosoma mansoni, relacionada com a precariedade do saneamento básico. Tal doença depende da resposta do hospedeiro à infiltração, desenvolvimento e produção de ovos do verme, quando não tratada adequadamente pode apresentar graves aspectos clínicos e evoluir para a forma crônica como as formas hepatointestinal e hepatoesplênica podendo provocar o óbito. Desse modo, o presente estudo objetivou a avaliação do perfil epidemiológico da Esquistossomose na Região Norte. Para tanto, realizou-se uma revisão narrativa com estudo epidemiológico retrospectivo, descritivo sobre a Esquistossomose na Região Norte na última década, constituída por artigos das bases de dados: SciELO, LILACS e Google Acadêmico no período de tempo entre 2015 a 2020, no idioma português. Nesse contexto, o município de Belém possui Política Municipal de Saneamento Básico e apresenta Plano Municipal de Saneamento Básico. Desse modo, o número de casos notificados na última década, foi pequeno. De acordo com o site do DATASUS, de três casos que foram confirmados, apenas dois foram notificados como curados da parasitose. No mesmo período, foram avaliados no município de Vigia os dois casos notificados, sendo nenhuma confirmação de cura segundo o site do DATASUS. Diante disto foi estipulada uma lei n° 358, do ano de 2019, fornecida pela prefeitura municipal de Vigia, estabelecendo um artigo onde se especifica os objetivos do Plano de Saneamento Básico para o município de Vigia. Buscando melhorar e manter o equilíbrio do meio ambiente além de fornecer diretriz a população para a conservação e recuperação da qualidade ambiental. Por fim, profilaxias devem ser tomadas para o controle ou até mesmo erradicação da contaminação deste parasita, que pode ser detectado através de exames laboratoriais e métodos complementares, ajudando na hora de escolher melhor tratamento de acordo com o nível da infecção Palavras-chave: Esquistossomose. A água é um recurso essencial para a vida, por isso é imprescindível que ela tenha a qualidade adequada para ingestão. O objetivo do estudo é caracterizar os parâmetros físico-químicos e a contaminação parasitária na água potável de escolas públicas de Belém-PA, Brasil. Trata-se de um estudo observacional transversal de natureza analítica, com abordagem quantitativa e qualitativa prospectiva, com 10 amostras de água que foram coletadas em escolas municipais e estaduais da cidade de Belém-PA, no ano de 2022. As amostras foram submetidas para testes de pH, acidez titulável, índice de refração, temperatura, densidade e análises parasitológicas. Os resultados obtidos para o parâmetro pH obtiveram média de 6,22 e 5,806 para escolas estaduais e municipais respectivamente, a acidez titulável foi de 0,0096 para escolas estaduais e 0,011 para escolas municipais. Em referência ao índice de refração, nas estaduais foi de 0,2 e nas municipais foi de 0,28. Em relação à temperatura, as médias variaram entre 22,6°C e 25,3°C; em relação à densidade, verificou-se que o resultado médio foi de 0,872mg/L e 1,104mg/L nas escolas estaduais e municipais, respectivamente. Durante a análise parasitológica não foi observada a presença de estruturas parasitológicas de protozoários e helmintos. Os dados deste estudo apresentaram variações em relação aos padrões de potabilidade nas análises físico-químicas, ao analisar os resultados da investigação parasitológica, pode-se apontar que são satisfatórios, porém, a importância dos estudos voltados para este tema é verificado.
O uso de plantas medicinais tem demonstrado benefícios aos pacientes com Diabetes Mellitus do tipo 2 (DM2), incluindo a redução do estresse oxidativo, situação comum neste grupo. Nesta perspectiva, o objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar os parametros físico-quimicos e potencial antioxidante de duas plantas medicinais com alegações antidiabéticas da Amazônia. Foram estudadas a Syzygium cumini e Myrcia sphaerocarpa, conhecidas popularmente como Jambolão e Pedra Hume caá, respectivamente. Para este fim, foram coletadas 7 amostras de Syzygium cumini e Myrcia sphaerocarpa em casas de ervas medicinais do município de Belém-PA, as quais foram submetidas a análises de pH, ºBrix, acidez, densidade, umidade, cinzas, ácido ascórbico, flavonoides, antocianinas e atividade antioxidante. Os resultados físico-químicos e de compostos antioxidantes foram apresentados através da média, desvio padrão, mínimo e máximo. Quanto aos valores encontrados, para o pH foi de 5,12 e 5,8; ºBrix 0,21 e 0,1; acidez 0,45ml NaOH/ml e 0,27ml; densidade 1,0 mg/L e 1,0 mg/L; umidade 0,72% 0,78%; cinzas 5,38% e 6,04%; 0,88% e 0,99% de ácido ascórbico; flavonoides 8,43mg/100g e 9,07mg/100g; antocianinas 6,19mg/100g e 4,87mg/100g para Syzygium cumini e Myrcia sphaerocarpa respectivamente. A atividade antioxidante foi de 0,25 para Jambolão e 0,28 para Pedra Ume Caa. Conclui-se que o Jambolão possui valores superiores nas análises de acidez titulável e antocianinas e inferiores em termos dos demais parâmetros físico-químicos e compostos com atividade antioxidantes quando comparado a Pedra Ume Caa.
