Devido à falta de informação e vários estudos terem identificado conceitos errôneos sobre o Papiloma Vírus Humanos (HPV), podendo assim ocasionar comportamentos negligentes e de risco para a saúde da população. O presente estudo tem como objetivo avaliar o conhecimento de jovens a respeito do assunto, pois o HPV é a doença sexualmente transmissível mais frequente no mundo e entre jovens sexualmente ativos. 50% dos casos novos acontecem nos 3 primeiros anos do inicio da atividade sexual. E por esse vírus ser a principal alteração para a causa do Câncer de Colo de Útero (CCU), nosso artigo tem a finalidade de avaliar o nível de conhecimento de algumas acadêmicas sobre esse assunto. Estudo com 42 participantes, todas maiores de 18 anos e acadêmicas do 1º período de Enfermagem, Medicina e Farmácia. Foi possível identificar um conhecimento leigo das entrevistadas sobre o assunto, a falta de informação provavelmente é o principal motivo do índice de HPV e câncer de colo uterino serem tão altos, devendo assim haver um maior investimento na educação dos jovens com relação a promoção da saúde e prevenções de Infecções Sexualmente Transmissíveis (IST), principalmente aquelas causadas pelo Papilomavirus Humano, ressaltando também a importância da realização do exame Papanicolau regularmente, que é recomendado realizar uma vez por ano, após dois anos consecutivos com resultado negativos, a cada três anos.
