Presentation of proposals implementing the concept of lean management in high school is the purpose of this article. The publication underlines the essence of Lean concept, which boils down to the effective management of available resources, without unnecessary waste – in accordance with Kaizen’s continuous improvement philosophy. The studies carried out included analysis of the organizational structure of selected university, its functional are¬as, management functions, number of employees, range of management, as well as tasks of individual cells and responsibilities at selected positions. Author recommends selected Lean tools in the office and service processes implemented by chosen university. Proposals for im¬plementation of selected tools concern organizational units such as: Department of Teaching and Student Affairs, Department of Human Resources and Staff, Financial Department and institutes. The author points universality and usefulness of the Lean concept, which was pro¬perly implemented and executed by the university could bring beneficial changes in the form of time savings as well as rationalization and greater efficiency of processes.
The aim of this publication is to present the results of research on the experiences of students and lecturers of Polish universities on e-learning and the organization of academic education during the COVID-19 pandemic. The article presents the recommendations most often formulated by respondents on the classes organization in the age of contemporary challenges. One of them is the ongoing state of epidemic threat. In this context, the challenge for universities is to optimize and improve the degree of use of modern communication and IT tools. In this area, we can observe a number of new, unprecedented (until 2020) activities, projects and events of a didactic, scientific and organizational nature -which are implemented hybrid or remotely. SummarySubject and purpose of work: The main goal of the article is to prove the impact of the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone (WSSE) “Invest Park” on the development of the Wałbrzych Agglomeration region.Materials and methods: The research carried out in 2017-2018 involved three groups of respondents: Wałbrzych Agglomeration residents, entrepreneurs and local government authorities. The study was supplemented with the information from WSSE “Invest Park”.Results: For all three groups of respondents, WSSE “Invest Park” plays an important role in the development of the Wałbrzych Agglomeration. Its creation had the greatest impact on reducing the unemployment rate and also on improving the infrastructure. It is also important that WSSE top many rankings, gaining the first position as one of the best investment areas.Conclusions: Establishing the WSSE in the area of the Wałbrzych Agglomeration has had a significant impact on the development of the region. This development is visible in the activities undertaken in the zone, attracting investors and creating new investment areas.
Purpose: The aim of this article is to present the results of research on needs and possibilities of implementing Lean Management concept at the university. Using the literature review and the results of empirical research, author proposes specific solutions (tools). Design/methodology/approach: The aim of the research was carried out on the basis of latest world literature review and empirical research conducted at a Polish university, the domain of which is practical education. The article is a case study with a proposal for the implementation of LM in a selected university. The research covered selected organizational units of universities. Findings: Recommendations for the use of selected Lean tools is the need to rationalize the activities undertaken in universities, including continuous improvement and flexibility of processes. There are economically justifiable actions to reduce waste and losses occurring in universities, as well as the integration of diversified and often non-cooperating organizational (functional) units. The proposals presented in this article may become an inspiration for universities that are thinking about implementing previously unused improvement tools. Research limitations/implications: Empirical research has been limited to one university, and the proposed methods and tools relate to selected functional areas. LM implementation requires prior analysis of the needs and capabilities of each organization. Practical implications: Due to the functioning of universities in an increasingly difficult to predict environment, they are forced to look for ways not only to survive, but above all to continuously improve the entire organization. The implemented rationalization and development measures should contribute to the improvement of the effectiveness and efficiency of management. Unpredictable changes concern the legal, socio-cultural, economic and economic environment, as well as the COVID-19 epidemic situation. These challenges are met by the concept of LM - as an inspiration and an opportunity to accelerate remedial and pro- development actions. Originality/value: The article is dedicated to people interested in the theory and practice of the LM concept. The use of the methods and tools proposed by the author in various functional areas of the university may bring about beneficial changes in the form of improvements in activities, time savings, as well as rationalization and greater efficiency of the implemented processes. Dual studies is an extremely attractive today, although not yet, common form of integrated education. Are they studies of the future? Considerations about the nature and importance of this type of studies in the process of vocational education, which should be determined by the needs of the modern labor market have been included in this article. The author shall review the selected offers of Polish universities in conducting of dual studies. Necessary conditions to start and conduct this form of education, as well as the potential benefits for stakeholders (students, employers, universities as institutions) have been presented in this publication. The dual studies are presented as a way of enterprising attitudes developing and professional competence of students (including the highly valued in the social competence labor market). Encouragement of universities that do not yet offer dual studies to consider the possibility of their launch in selected fields of studies is the purpose of this article. In the paper the process of starting this form of education through diagnosing the needs analyses is proposed.
