Looking at different dimensions of care instead of a single global measure gave a richer, more diverse, and also a more negative picture of women's experiences of intrapartum care.
A program named EXACON is presented which performs exact cellwise analyses of two-way contingency tables. EXACON is written in FORTRAN 77 and is interactive. One-tailed probabilities are computed for the observed frequency of each cell according to two different probability models, one being Fisher's exact test for a 2 x 2 table. Despite the fact that exact probabilities are computed, EXACON does not demand much computer time even for fairly large samples.
Methodological implications of a person-oriented Bergman and Magnusson (1997) claim that the following five assumptions are natural to make in developmental research based on the holisticinteractionistic paradigm and conducted within a person-oriented framework:1. The developmental process is partly specific to individuals. 2. The process is complex and is conceptualized as containing many interacting factors on different levels. 3. There exists a meaningful coherence and structure in individual growth and differences in individuals' process characteristics. The lawfulness of the processes within functionally organized structures is reflected in the development and functioning of both subsystems and the organized totality. 4. Processes occur in a lawful way within structures that are organized and function as patterns of operating factors and where each factor derives its meaning from its relations to the others. 5. Theoretically, there is an infinite variety of differences with regard to process characteristics and observed states at a detailed level. On a more global level, there will often exist a small number of more frequently observed patterns (referred to as common types). This assumption is made both intraindividually and interindividually.Bergman and Magnusson (1997) pointed out that the last assumption obtains support from a variety of considerations. First, evolving biological systems have a capability for self-organization. This is characteristic of open systems, where new structures and patterns "spontaneously" emerge, even
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
