This paper focuses on an integrated volt/VAr control (IVVC) system that is being installed at Georgia Power Company that does not require any communications to function. Substation load tap change (LTC) transformers and feeder regulators are coordinated with down-line regulators and switched capacitor banks to flatten the voltage profile of the circuits and allow each circuit to be operated at lower voltages. The initial system will be installed and operated with limited communications to devices inside the substation and no communications with the devices outside of the substation.
This article discusses the challenging process of developing a common data set for independent living programs serving older adults who are visually impaired. The three-year project, which included collaborative efforts among many stakeholders that encompass diverse program models, resulted in the development of the Internet-based Nationally Standardized Minimum Dataset.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between rehabilitative interventions and older adults with visual impairments. This study employed an ex post facto, quasi-experimental design which analyzed changes that occurred based on composite pretest and posttest scores representing levels of performance and independence. Participants were visually impaired adults, age 65 and above, who successfully completed a rehabilitation program intended to increase their skills for independent living. A repeated measures multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) was conducted to determine if there were significant improvements on pretest to posttest levels of performance and independence derived from the rehabilitative interventions, and if improvements were related to age. Statistically significant gains were noted on overall performance and independence for both the ADL and IADL domains.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
