As aplicações estéticas através da radiofrequência (RF) oferecem uma variedade de opções tanto para o médico quanto para o paciente. As tecnologias avançam continuamente, assim como o entendimento de como esses aparelhos funcionam, portanto, descontinuar aparelhos mais antigos e adotar os mais recentes é algo a ser antecipado. A RF é considerada um avanço na tecnologia da estética, visto que, pode ser utilizada para tratamentos estéticos de antienvelhecimentos sem cortes e com baixos níveis de lesões. Os aparelhos de RF monopolares usam uma corrente elétrica de elevada frequência. Já os aparelhos bipolares consistem em 2 eletrodos, sem placa de aterramento, emitindo uma corrente alternada rápida a uma distância predeterminada. Aparelhos multipolares usam 3 ou mais eletrodos para fornecer energia térmica ao tecido dérmico e subdérmico. Os aparelhos de RF multigeradores foram desenvolvidos com base na tecnologia proprietária de entrega de RF lançada pela Endymed Medical. Por fim, compreende-se que existem várias gerações de aparelhos de radiofrequência para tratamentos estéticos não invasivo. Os aparelhos diferem no número de elétrodos e modalidades de energia adicionais que combinam para maximizar os efeitos clínicos e minimizar os efeitos adversos. Diante desse contexto, o objetivo deste estudo é demonstrar as aplicações estéticas do uso de RF nos tratamentos dermatológicos, enfatizando seus resultados e a segurança na aplicação.
