En este artículo se presentan los resultados de una investigación que se llevó a cabo en la Universidad Autónoma de Campeche-Facultad de Medicina en el que se desarrolló un estudio observacional, descriptivo, transversal y prospectivo para la identificación de cualquier enfermedad que sea factor de riesgo para presentar Enfermedad Renal Crónica en los pacientes que acudieron a sesiones de hemodiálisis y que presentaron algún síntoma de COVID-19, las variables analizadas en los pacientes fueron la edad de inicio de hemodiálisis, género y factores asociados que precipitaron la aparición de Insuficiencia Renal Crónica y por consiguiente el uso de hemodiálisis como terapia sustitutiva. Los resultados mostraron que los pacientes tuvieron diversos factores de riesgo que han presentado desde hace mucho tiempo atrás, que nos habla de la importancia del adecuado control y tratamiento de enfermedades para prevenir complicaciones de la Insuficiencia Renal Crónica y tratamiento sustitutivo diálisis.
INTRODUCCIÓN: La parasitosis es un problema de salud pública que afecta aproximadamente al 45% de la población mundial, sin embargo, se observa una mayor prevalencia de esta en países tercermundistas debido a la falta de higiene y la carencia de servicios de salud en general. El INEGI tiene un registro detallado por edades y sexo de las causas de morbilidad y mortalidad más comunes, sin embargo, las enfermedades parasitarias y su índice de defunción no se ven reflejadas en los estudios publicados, este hecho minimiza el impacto en la sociedad y por tanto los habitantes no le prestan la suficiente atención a los hábitos de profilaxis y desparasitación continua. OBJETIVO. Determinar en la población en general de la comunidad de la presencia de parásitos de mayor incidencia y contrastar los resultados obtenidos de los hábitos de desparasitación de esta población. METODO. Se seleccionaron a 77 habitantes de la población total que reside en la comunidad de San Agustín Chunhuas para realizar los estudios parasitoscópico. Método coproparasitoscópico directo y Método coproparasitoscópico de concentración por flotación (Método de Faust). CONCLUSIÓN: Más de la mitad de la población de San Agustín Chunhuas se encuentra infectada con parásitos intestinales, en su mayoría protozoos, pero se encuentra mayor cantidad del helminto Áscaris lumbricoides.
Objetivo: Determinar los factores de riesgo para el cáncer de mama en mujeres. Material y método: Estudio descriptivo, transversal y observacional. Resultados: De las 232 encuestadas el 55.2% no realiza autoexploración mamaria; el 44.8% ha usado anticonceptivos orales; el 32.8% es obesa; el 22.4% niega lactancia materna; el 13.8% no cuenta con antecedentes heredofamiliares; el 10.3% ha presentado enfermedad benigna en senos. Conclusiones: Los factores de riesgo más frecuentes fueron la falta de autoexploración mamaria, la obesidad y el uso de anticonceptivos orales.
La parasitosis intestinal es causa de morbilidad en niños y está asociada a medidas de higiene y factores socioculturales; los habitantes de las comunidades rurales desde tiempos ancestrales han utilizado plantas para el control de parasitosis. El diseño de investigación aplicada fue transversal con la finalidad de conocer los factores socioculturales que influyen en el consumo y conocimiento de plantas medicinales que se emplean en el tratamiento de las parasitosis en la comunidad de San Agustín Olá (Municipio de Campeche, México); se entrevistó el 80% de los domicilios de la comunidad sobre el conocimiento y uso de plantas medicinales que se empleen en el tratamiento de infecciones o enfermedades gastrointestinales y parasitosis. Los resultados permiten identificar las principales plantas medicinales empleadas en la región, entre ellas destaca el epazote (Dysphania ambrosioides) con el mayor número de menciones; estos datos sirven como base para estudios científicos posteriores encaminados a la validación del uso de las plantas y en la búsqueda de principios activos prometedores como antiparasitarios.
El primer caso o caso índice de COVID-19 en México se detectó el 27 de febrero de 2020 en la Ciudad de México. Se trató de un mexicano que había viajado a Italia y tenía síntomas leves. Objetivo: Identificar el tratamiento establecido, la evolución, desenlace del cuadro clínico y la relación de las comorbilidades de los pacientes ingresados con diagnostico confirmado, durante la pandemia de COVID 19. Material y métodos: Estudio observacional, descriptivo, transversal y retrospectivo. Resultado: Con base a los métodos y pruebas de diagnóstico realizados previos al ingreso en el área COVID, el 61% de los pacientes contaban con PCR, el 37% ingreso al área con método de tomografía computarizada compatible a COVID previo a algún laboratorio que lo corroborase. Conclusión: Se hospitalizaron un total de 41 pacientes con diagnósticos confirmados de SARS COV2 61%.
