Integrating Naqli and Aqli knowledge is the vision of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), Malaysia, to transform and create value for country, ummah and humanity. This concept becomes fundamental in university's curriculum for students that pursuing their studies in a various disciplines of knowledge. It is in line with the Malaysian Education Development Plan, which aims to create young generation who are knowledgeable, have an ability to think critically and creatively, have a strong leadership skills and ability to communicate effectively at the global stage. The study intends to examine the perception of students that adhere to curriculum that based on the integration of Naqli and Aqli knowledge, especially in USIM. Data was obtained through distributed questionnaire form to students about their perception towards curriculum of integrating Naqli and Aqli knowledge. 114 students from Tamhidi were selected as respondents in this study case. The study found that majority of respondents has a basic knowledge about the integration of knowledge since their secondary school. This is because mostly they came from religious secondary school from either federal, state or private school. The study also found that the subject-based Islamic Education plays an important role as it gives an overview of the integration of Naqli and Aqli. Majority of respondents were able to differentiate between the two knowledge, however this study shows that it was difficult for them to present some examples that explain the integration of both knowledge. In addition, this study revealed that majority of respondents get clear information regarding to the integration of both knowledge in the courses offered by the department. As a student of USIM, the majority of respondents are aware that the institution is a public university that implements integration of Naqli and Aqli knowledge in offered curriculum.
The integration of Naqli and Aqli knowledge in curriculum has been a strategic plan of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia to become a prominent global reference institution on its instigation by year 2025. The university has introduced the term Naqli as divine knowledge; which it derives from Quran, Sunnah and references of respected books by previous religious scholars. While, the term Aqli denotes to modern knowledge that are gained through research and discoveries in the present. By having this integration in its curriculum on both of these disciplines, it has made Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia on its own as compared to other tertiary institutions. Through the integration; mandatory internship program for undergraduate students have embraced this curricular approach along with its students" industrial training session. The objectives for students to undergo the industrial training are for them to be familiarized with their potential job scopes, in addition, to practice the knowledge that they have learnt theoretically in the university. Students are required to choose any particular organization that has to do with their field of study, in order to gain experience and exposure in their upcoming working world. This study then intends to review the organizations that the Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia"s students have attended for their industrial training session on the integration of both Naqli and Aqli practices. Particularly, this study will focus on the organizations in Kelantan as this is the state where majority of all the students are being sent to. Adalah Alquran sebagai sebuah kitab yang diutuskan oleh Allah s.w.t sudah pasti mempunyai banyak keunikan. Ia mencakupi keistimewaan dalam pelbagai disiplin ilmu yang bermanfaat untuk kegunaan manusia. Antaranya ialah ilmu biologi yang mengkaji struktur, fungsi, pertumbuhan, asal, evolusi dan taburan benda hidup. Secara umumnya sains biologi terbahagi kepada beberapa bidang antaranya anatomi, biofizik, biogeografi, biokimia, biologi laut,biologi molekul, biologi sel, botani, bioteknologi, fisiologi, mikrobiologi, paleontologi, patologi, virologi dan zoologi. Dalam Alquran terdapat beberapa tanda secara tidak langsung yang menunjukkan kaitan beberapa bidang dalam bidang ilmu biologi ini. Penerokaan sains moden terhadapnya telah berjaya menyingkap keunikan beberapa isu yang telah dinyatakan dalam kitab suci ini dari perspektif sains. Kajian ini menampilkan beberapa contoh ayat Alquran yang dilihat penjelasannya dari sudut beberapa bidang biologi yang telah dinyatakan. Ayat berkenaan diterjemahkan kemudian diulas berdasarkan penemuan dari kajian sains yang dilakukan oleh penyelidik. Hasil dari kajian menunjukkan bahawa terdapat banyak ayat yang telah diwahyukan oleh Allah s.w.t ini memberi isyarat terhadap keunikan banyak bidang dalam ilmu biologi, setelah dilakukan kajian dan pemerhatian oleh penyelidik zaman moden.
