Problem Statement: While designing a learning environment it is vital to think about learner characteristics (learning styles, approaches, motivation, interests… etc.) in order to promote effective learning. The learning environment and learning process should be designed not to enable students to learn in the same manner and at the same level, but rather designed by giving thought to students' existing learning styles.
Bu araştırmanın amacı, Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti'nde bulunan ve farklı kültürlerden öğrencileri barındıran bir devlet kolejinde öğrenim gören yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerin, okul ortamında yaşadıkları sorunları, yabancı uyruklu öğrenciler ve öğretmenler gözünden ortaya koymak ve çözüm önerileri geliştirmektir. Araştırma, uyum sürecinden geçen göç etmiş öğrencilerin ve bu süreçte sorumluluk sahibi olan öğretmenlerin gözünden sorunları belirlemesi, çözüm önerileri sunması ve çokkültürlü programların geliştirilmesine ve uygulanmasına yönelik yapılacak çalışmalara katkı sağlayıcı olması bakımından önemli görülmektedir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu, 2017-2018 eğitim-öğretim yılında KKTC'de bir devlet kolejinde öğrenim gören 15 yabancı uyruklu öğrenci ve görev yapan 15 öğretmendir. Araştırma, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden durum çalışması olarak tasarlanmıştır. Araştırmada veriler, araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen açık uçlu sorulardan oluşan yarı yapılandırılmış iki görüşme formu ile toplanmıştır. Veri analizini gerçekleştirmek için betimsel analizden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerin eğitimöğretim sürecinde bazı sorunlar yaşadıkları tespit edilmiştir. Bu sorunların başında dil, kültür farklılığı, dersle ilgilenmeme, öğretimden kopma ve uyum problemleri gelmektedir.
The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a significant relationship between the grade level, gender and mathematics achievement of secondary school students and their success in solving pattern problems. For this purpose, descriptive study was conducted totally 399 middle school students enrolled at a state college in the Nicosia district of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The data was collected by Pattern Achievement Test and analyzed by multiple regression analysis. It was seen that class level, gender and mathematics achievement, which are considered as independent variables, had a positive and moderate level impact on students' success in solving pattern problems.
