AbstractPeople leave their habitats and go to different regions of the world due to various reasons, which is defined as migration. One of the most important changes that have been experienced in migration in the last half century is the increase in women's migration. Women are among the risk groups that are affected by the process of migration at most. A particular attention is attracted to the special requirements of women among groups that are obliged to migrate due to the crisis in their countries. Different lifestyles in the migrated social environment, difficult economic and working conditions, language barrier and relevant adaptation problems all negatively affect the mental health of these women. In order to protect and develop the mental health of migrant women from different cultural groups, it is important to approach these groups as primary risk groups and start multidirectional interventions aimed at their areas required.
The purpose of the study was to evaluate perception of body weight (PBW) of women who live in two different regions of the Antalya provincial center in Turkey with different socioeconomic status (SES) and whose ages range from 50 to 65. A cross-sectional survey was conducted. Association with PBW was investigated using multiple logistic regression analyses; correct PBW of women in middle SES was 0.28 times more than those in upper-middle and upper SES. Health professionals should take unemployed women with high body mass index and low SES as a target group.
Aims: The aim of this systematic literature review was to identify health promotion interventions for older people living alone and to describe the effectiveness of these interventions. Methods: A literature search was conducted using five databases, including CINAHL, Ovid MEDLINE, PubMed, Cochrane, Scopus, and Web of Science, and this comprehensive literature search process was guided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) statement. Potentially relevant studies were evaluated and selected by two authors. Studies were assessed based on inclusion criteria. The Standardised Critical Appraisal Tool from Joanna Briggs Institute Meta-Analysis of Statistics Assessment and Review Instrument (JBI-MAStARI) was used to appraise the methodological quality of these studies. Results: Of the 2852 unique studies identified in the systematic search, the full texts of three studies meeting the inclusion criteria were reviewed. The results showed that the level of physical activity and self-efficacy for physical activity, activities of daily living, food enjoyment, and energy intake increased and leisure engagement decreased with health promotion interventions. Conclusion: The findings of this review indicate that interventions to improve health promotion positively affect the health of older people living alone and enhance their quality of life. There is a need for further research involving multidimensional interventions for older people living alone.
Purpose: This article presents the planned protocol for a study that investigates the effects of nursing care interventions based on Integrative Nursing (IN) and the Omaha System. The Omaha System is a nursing classification system focused on holistic care and used in determining nursing diagnoses and applying and evaluating interventions. Design: This study protocol describes a randomized controlled trial with a parallel group design. Method: Standard Protocol Items: Recommendations for Interventional Trials (SPIRIT) Statement 2013 checklist is used in this study. The CONSORT (Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials) flowchart is used in this protocol. After the level of loneliness of older women is determined by the Loneliness Scale for the Elderly in a family health center, women with high levels of loneliness will be randomly assigned to the intervention and control groups. Nursing care interventions consist of group-based (sightseeing, picnics, theater, cinema, group education, and charity activities) and person-centered interventions, according to IN and the Omaha System, for 12 weeks. Conclusions: This protocol will test the effectiveness of nursing care interventions that include a comprehensive (physical, psychological, social, and spiritual) evaluation. The results will help contribute to the provision of care in terms of IN and the Omaha System and guide health professionals and researchers.
