Aim: In this study our idea is to compare the effectiveness of using interposing layer of fibrin glue to omental flap in reducing the failure of laparoscopic vesicovaginal fistula repair. Methods: Forty patients with fairly large vesicovaginal fistula were enrolled and divided in two groups of 20 each. We have used fibrin glue in one group and omental flap in the other group. Result: Of 20 patients in fibrin glue group no failure was seen, while 5 patients out of 20 in omental flap group had failure. Conclusion: This result is statistically significant and hence use of fibrin glue to be considered during laparoscopic repair of vesicovaginal fistulas.
Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) is a noxious and unintended response to a medicine which occurs at doses normally used in human being. Pharmacovigilance (PV) is the process to monitor patient safety in practical condition and analyse adverse events during the entire life cycle of a drug beginning from its trial phase to post-marketing of the drug. Before medicines get authorised, they are tested in controlled trial conditions within a smaller population for a limited length of time. Post authorization, drugs are used by a larger population across various geographies without any control in place. So, it is very important to monitor adverse effect caused by these medicines throughout their life cycle in order to identify and minimize risks associated with the use of drug and enhance the knowledge of healthcare professionals. Under reporting is a major obstacle in the PV system. Research shows that the major causes of under reporting are lack of knowledge and awareness among healthcare professionals and also absence of established ADR reporting system in various part of the world. Some other reasons of under-reporting included large number of patients, lower doctor-patient ratio and common practice of self-medication. This article reviews the research done on ADR under-reporting scenario with a focus on the factors leading to this obstacle in PV.
Cervical (supra-clavicular) lymphadenopathy may not always be due to tuberculosis in children. Hepatocellular carcinoma in children even may present as supra clavicular lymphadenopathy (Virchow's node).
Penile tuberculosis (TB) is an uncommon variety of genitourinary TB. It is either primary (via local spread) or secondary (spread of infection from other organs). We encountered a case of rapidly growing penile ulceration, resembling carcinoma. Biopsy revealed the classic picture of TB, which responded well to antitubercular treatment.
People manager is not a designation or position. It is an attitude to keep an eye on the quality of the mindset of the people. Managing people well is extremely important to achieve goals and objectives at workplace. People management skills can be acquired through experience and observation. Theses kills are positively affected by the attitudes and personalities that the managers develop and apply. This review article presents the essence of people management. While the viewpoints of the human resource management across different levels have been observed, the main skills required for effective people management have also been discussed. The role of social psychology at work is also becoming increasingly important for the people managers especially with the arrivals of the Millennials at workplace and the ongoing new normal where most of the employees worldwide are connected virtually with each other as well as with their leaders. Employees should look up to a people manager as their role model in every aspect at workplace.
(A. Dutta). chain, the scope of hemovigilance is all levels of potential transfusion hazards, i.e. from the selection of potential donors to the transfusion to the recipient. To reach this goal: the core of hemovigilance, as a system of public health surveillance, is a prospective surveillance and alert system. On European level, hemovigilance started around 1995. The European Council published its Resolution of June 2, 1995 and a Communication on "Blood Safety and Self-Sufficiency in the Community" with the aim to improve public confidence in the safety of the blood supply. In the same year and for the first time on ISBT Congresses, at the ISBT 5th Regional (4th European) Congress in Venice, Italy, a hemovigilance symposium "Hemovigilance procedures in Transfusion Medicine" was organized. The conclusion of this symposium was that hemovigilance should be considered as part of the quality
In this paper unified power quality conditioner has been used to enhance low voltage ride through capability of grid connected wind conversion system taking Doubly fed induction generator (DFIG). Unified Power quality conditioner (UPQC) device is a combination of series active filter and shunt active filter. This custom power device is mainly used to mitigate power quality issues which is an essential factor today because of wide application of power electronics devices. UPQC is capable to deal with voltage and current imperfection simultaneously. It is installed in the system mainly to improve the power quality i.e. Voltage sag/swell, Harmonics, reactive power compensation etc. at point of common coupling. System is modeled in MATLAB/SIMULINK and results shows utilization of UPQC for the enhancement of LVRT of a DFIG wind system according to Grid code. when fault occurs in the system, it will create voltage dip and series compensator of UPQC injects during this time to prevent disconnection from grid and stay connected to contribute during fault. UPQC is also used for fast restoration of system steady state, power factor improvement, prevent rotor over current.
Approximately 30% of the world's population suffers from pain. Pain increases to 50% in those older than 65 years. Multidisciplinary treatment is important parameter in the treatment of both acute and chronic pain. 15% patients generally do not use medications. 35 % patients undergo Non-pharmacological pain therapy which refers to interventions which do not involve the use of medications to treat pain. These methods have virtually no adverse reactions, though have lesser efficacy than pharmacotherapy. Pain experience is reported by 91% to 94% of patients undergoing orthodontic treatment. Low back pain (LBP)-pain experienced in the lumbosacral spinal and paraspinal regions, including the buttocks and upper thigh-is seen in nearly 20% patients.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
