O tratamento odontológico tem grande potencial de despertar ansiedade, agitação e medo nos pacientes, o que pode se transformar em obstáculo para o cuidado da saúde bucal especialmente das crianças. Independente da causa ou tipo de reação de medo, sabe-se que geralmente os pais ou responsáveis optam por acompanhar a criança durante o atendimento, e a forma como os mesmos se comportam é de grande importância para a execução da terapia odontológica de maneira correta, impactando de alguma forma na apresentação de comportamento dos seus filhos. O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar os aspectos cognitivos-comportamentais dos pais ou responsáveis frente ao atendimento odontopediátrico, bem como sua influência na viabilidade do tratamento. Na pesquisa, foram realizados levantamentos nas bases de dados PubMed, SciELO e Google Acadêmico, incluindo trabalhos dos anos 2001 a 2021, incluindo um total de 52 artigos para esta revisão. Com base nas pesquisas, normalmente há maior prevalência da figura feminina como acompanhante nas consultas. Além disso o medo que os pais têm de ir ao cirurgião-dentista é a causa mais evidente de ansiedade gerada de forma indireta também em seus filhos. Os achados sugerem que crianças ansiosas agem como reflexo da ansiedade materna e, como consequência, a criança apresenta comportamento negativo no consultório. Já nos casos em que as crianças não eram ansiosas, os responsáveis por elas também não apresentavam queixa de medo ou ansiedade. No geral, os acompanhantes preferem permanecer dentro do consultório, por diversos motivos. Entre as causas para reações de medo e ansiedade por parte destes adultos, o uso da alta rotação, procedimentos com uso de anestesia ou invasivos como os procedimentos cirúrgicos são as principais causas de aflição. Entre esses fatores que motivam reação de medo por parte dos pais e responsáveis, também está incluída a insegurança do profissional, bem como a limpeza e condições do ambiente de consultório. Conclui-se que a relação cognitivo-comportamental dos pais e responsáveis pode impactar diretamente, de forma positiva ou negativa, no comportamento das crianças.
A cárie é uma doença de origem multifatorial, e está relacionada a fatores determinantes e fatores modificadores. Com isso Este trabalho teve por objetivo estimar, para a população indígena do município de Xinguara, a prevalência de cárie dentária, a fim de subsidiar pesquisas que visam ao estabelecimento de relações entre os dados encontrados e a realidade socioeconômica através do conhecimento do quadro epidemiológico de cárie dentária da população indígena da amostra deste município propor à SMS estratégias para enfrentamento do problema. O presente trabalho foi aceito e aprovado pela Divisão de Atenção à Saúde Indígena DIASI/KPA juntamente a Fundação Nacional do Índio -FUNAI. O resultado desse estudo foi mais desfavorável do que o encontrado no levantamento das condições de saúde bucal da população brasileira (Projeto SB Brasil) cuja média do índice CPO-D anos em 2003 foi de 2,8 e da região sul foi de 2,31. Concluindo que a população indígena apresentou melhores índices de saúde bucal ao serem comparados os relatados no inquérito epidemiológico de saúde bucal de 2010 na população brasileira.
