Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to design a model of the port performance metrics for improving the quality in ports by integration of six sigma and system dynamics (SD) approach.
Design/methodology/approach
The port performance is measured by the sigma value (SV), the process capability indices (PCIs), and the cost of poor quality (COPQ) as the performance metrics. A port is a complex system that requires SD as an appropriate tool to simulate the model dynamically. The performance metrics focus on measuring the port performance in the entire flow of material in the cargo handling process.
Findings
With this model, the changing of the SV, the PCIs, and the COPQ can be identified and analyzed the results to improve the performance in ports. These metrics are utilized to eliminate “waste” in the cargo handling process at ports. This waste consists of lost and damaged cargo, equipment and transporter breakdown, and equipment and transporter delay time. The port performance metrics model can assess the causal relationships in ports as a complex system.
Originality/value
Studies on integration between the six sigma model and SD in ports are few and relatively limited. The port’s performance can be measured directly using the SV, the PCIs, and the COPQ in the simulation. The port performance metrics model will give the decision makers to make some scenarios to contribute for the optimization of performance in ports.
This study aims to analyze the supply chain performance mediation on the relationship between supplier flexibility, supply agility, and company performance. The population in this study were 100 broilers in the districts / cities in Banten Province. The data to be used in this study are primary data, through sending questionnaires. Development of theoretical models with five hypotheses processed in the analysis using SmartPLS Software version 3.0.m3. The results showed that supplier flexibility and supply agility have a positive and significant effect on company performance, supplier flexibility and supply agility have a positive and significant effect on supply chain performance and supply chain performance has a positive and significant effect as an intervening variable to the company performance. Supply chain mediation has an important role in integrating production processes from upstream to downstream, including establishing good relations between businesses involved in supply chain management to improve the company's performance.
The aim of present study is to synthesize chitosan-TiO2 nanocomposite for packaging and its ability to inactive Staphylococcus aureus. TiO2 Degussa P25 were dispersed in chitosan matrix in order to produce film-forming solution. The samples were characterized by SEM, FTIR, tensile strength, antibacterial and biodegradable test. The tensile strength test results showed that Cs-0.1Ti was the best nanocomposite compared to other variations of TiO2 addition. Whereas for the test of S. aureus bacteria showed that no more S. aureus bacteria were found in chitosan-TiO2 nanocomposite after incubation for 24 hours. It indicated more effective use of nanocomposites by adding TiO2 compared to without adding TiO2. For biodegradation analysis, the addition of TiO2 slows the nanocompostites degradation process, which is indicated by the less mass loss that occurs in Cs-0.5 Ti nanocomposite.

Aktivitas bisnis untuk menghasilkan produk halal tersebut tentunya dapat memungkinkan terjadinya suatu risiko. Untuk itu perlu suatu manajemen risiko yaitu dengan mengidentifikasi risiko yang berpotensi muncul pada rantai pasok menggunakan model SCOR untuk pemetaan aktivitasnya. Pemetaan aktivitas memudahkan dalam mengidentifikasi kejadian risiko dan agen risiko. Kejadian risiko dan agen risiko yang berhasil diidentifikasi kemudian dinilai tingkat dampak, tingkat frekuensi serta korelasinya dengan menggunakan metode House of Risk. Metode House of Risk memiliki dua fase. HOR fase 1 untuk mengetahui prioritas agen risiko dan HOR fase 2 untuk menentukan prioritas aksi mitigasi. Terdapat 21 kejadian risiko, 20 agen risiko dan 8 aksi mitigasi yang berhasil diidentifikasi.
