The COVID-19 pandemic has forced higher-education institutions to switch to emergency online learning. This situation has also challenged the Muslim communities and institutions across the world to shift to the online mode of teaching Quran and Islamic studies. This research explored undergraduate students’ and instructors’ perceptions of the emergency online learning of Quran reading in Indonesia. Several aspects were analysed to compare the students’ perspective towards face-to-face class versus online learning, including class interaction, learning experience, motivation, satisfaction and comfort level. The study also compared students’ Quran reading performance in the online-learning setting with the records from a traditional face-to-face class during the previous year. The survey and performance data were obtained from 923 students. The findings indicated no significant difference in students’ performance between Quran reading classes in face-to-face and online classroom settings. Furthermore, although students and instructors felt that some aspects had changed, they generally tended to accept the Quran class in online mode. This is likely because, amidst the pandemic, students and instructors have no other options except to adapt to the rapid change and embrace the transition. Nevertheless, the study indicated signs of fatigue and reduction in the students’ acceptance of the Quran online learning over time.
Abstract. The emergence of Covid-19 made the Ministry of Religion should make a policy for religious instructors to continue their counseling assisted by virtual media, but in fact, these activities had an obstacles, including religious instructors at KUA Sukasari District where the programs had to be changed, they were required to be creative, and limited activities due to some areas being required to temporarily close. The purpose of this research is to find out the programs, communication processes, obstacles, and solutions for religious instructors at the KUA of Sukasari District during the Covid-19 pandemic. The type of research is qualitative research with descriptive analysis method with a da'wah communication theory and the data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis techniques that will be used are data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results of this research are the program that carried out by religious instructors at the KUA of Sukasari District there is communication through virtual media and face-to-face with strict health protocols, the obstacles experienced are limitations in mastering the virtual media, building public trust, conditioning gadgets, internet and quotas disruptions, the delays in activity time, and the solution is to have an adaptive attitude and connect with the community. Abstrak. Munculnya Covid-19 membuat Kementerian Agama harus membuat sebuah kebijakan kepada penyuluh agama untuk tetap melakukan penyuluhannya yang dibantu dengan media virtual, namun nyatanya kegiatan tersebut justru mengalami hambatan, termasuk penyuluh agama di KUA Kecamatan Sukasari dimana program yang telah direncanakan harus diubah, mereka diharuskan untuk kreatif, dan kegiatan yang sangat terbatas akibat beberapa wilayah diharuskan untuk tutup sementara. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui program, proses komunikasi, hambatan, serta solusi penyuluh agama di KUA Kecamatan Sukasari pada masa pandemi Covid-19. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu penelitian kualitatif metode deskriptif analisis dengan pendekatan teori komunikasi dakwah dan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang akan digunakan adalah reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian ini bahwa program penyuluh agama KUA Kecamatan Sukasari terdapat komunikasi melalui media virtual dan tatap dengan protokol kesehatan yang ketat, hambatan yang dialami adalah keterbatasan menguasai media virtual, membangun kepercayaan masyarakat, mengkondisikan gadget, gangguan internet dan kuota, keterlambatan waktu kegiatan, dan solusinya adalah dengan adanya sikap adaptif dan saling berkomunikasi dengan masyarakat.
Abstract. Muhadharah is the first step as an effort to train students confidence to speak in public. However, from this muhadharah there are still many students who are not confident in speaking in public. Whereas students are the generation needed in society to convey the teachings of the Islamic religion. this research took place at the Al-ittihad Islamic boarding school, Jl. Raya Bandung, Km. 03, Karangtengah, Cianjur. This study aims to determine the role of the Al-ittihad Islamic boarding school improving the speech quality of students through the muhadharah program and what are the supporting and inhibiting factors of improving the quality of students speeches. This research uses qualitative methods with descriptive qualitative research. Methods of data collection is done by using the merhod of inteviews, documentations, and observation. The result of this study conclude that muhadharah activities to improve the quality of giving speeches to students at the Al-ittihad Islamic boarding school had been running well and effectively. During the speech preparation process, students receive direct guidance from the teacher or administrator. This affects the quality of the speeches of the student in which thet become more confident when speaking in public. Supporting and inhibiting factors in the success of improving the quality of students speeches come from themselves because good material is not enough if there is no self confidence and motivation from within. Abstrak. Muhadharah merupakan langkah awal sebagai salah satu upaya melatih percaya diri santri untuk berbicara di depan umum. Namun, dari muhadharah ini masih banyak santri yang belum percaya diri dalam berbicara di depan umum. Padahal santri adalah generasi yang dibutuhkan di masyarakat untuk menyampaikan ajaran agama islam. Penelitan ini bertempat di pondok pesantren Al-ittihad, jl. Raya Bandung, km.03, kec. Karangtengah, Kab. Cianjur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran pondok pesantren Al-ittihad dalam meningkatkan kualitas berpidato santri melalui program muhadharah dan apa saja faktor pendukung dan penghambat dari peningkatan kualitas berpidato santri. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Metode pengumpulan data yang dilakukan yaitu dengan menggunakan metode wawancara, dokumentasi, dan observasi. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa kegiatan muhadharah untuk meningkatkan kualitas berpidato santri di pondok pesantren Al-ittihad telah berjalan dengan baik dan efektif. Selama proses persiapan berpidato, santri mendapatkan bimbingan langsung dari ustaz atau pengurus. Hal ini berpengaruh terhadap kualitas berpidato santri yang mana mereka menjadi lebih percaya diri ketika berbicara di depan umum. Faktor pendukung dan penghambat dalam keberhasilan peningkatan kualitas berpidato santri hadir dari diri sendiri karena materi yang baik saja tidak cukup jika tidak adanya rasa percaya diri dan motivasi dari dalam diri sendiri.
Abstract. The Rattan Sang Kiai book is a book published in early 2020 by the publisher of Indonesian Rare Books, this book tells how the story of Almahum Mama' Uyeh's magical rattan became his silent witness in educating students in his pesantren environment. From the magic word, it raises the question, whether the book of Rattan Sang Kiai is an Islamic book that contains creed values or even a book that goes into mystical or beyond reason. Based on this background, a problem arises in this research which is formulated to find out (1) the denotative meaning in the book Rattan Sang Kiai (2) the connotative meaning in the book Rattan Sang Kiai (3) the value of faith contained in the book Rattan Sang Kiai. This research is based on the framework of thinking that in analyzing the content of creed values in Rattan Sang Kiai's book, it can be known by using Roland Barthes' theory of semiotics, which is a theory that studies a series of objects, events, and the whole culture of signs Roland's theory Barthes himself developed a two-level system called denotation (sign) and connotation (signified). The researcher uses a correlational analysis technique method using a qualitative approach, which describes the data obtained in the book then analyzed and compared with the meaning of each word. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, literature studies and documentation. The data analysis technique used in this research is descriptive analysis technique. The result of this research is that there are sentences with denotative and connotative meanings and the values of faith in the book are found. Abstrak. Buku Rotan Sang Kiai merupakan buku yang diterbitkan di awal tahun 2020 oleh penerbit Buku Langka Indonesia, buku ini menceritakan bagaimana kisah rotan ajaib Almahum Mama’ Uyeh menjadi saksi bisu beliau dalam mendidik para santri di lingkungan pesantren miliknya. Dari kata ajaib tersebut menimbulkan pertanyaan, apakah buku Rotan Sang Kiai ini merupakan buku islami yang mengandung nilai-nilai akidah atau bahkan merupakan buku yang masuk kepada hal mistis atau diluar nalar. Berdasarkan latar belakang tersebut, maka muncul permasalahan dalam penelitian ini yang dirumuskan untuk mengetahui (1) makna denotatif dalam buku Rotan Sang Kiai (2) makna konotatif dalam buku Rotan Sang Kiai (3) nilai akidah yang terdapat dalam buku Rotan Sang Kiai. Penelitian ini berdasarkan kepada kerangka berfikir bahwa dalam mengalisis suatu kandungan nilai-nilai akidah dalam buku Rotan Sang Kiai dapat diketahui dengan menggunakan teori Roland Barthes mengenai semiotika, yakni sebuah teori yang mempelajari sederetan objek-objek, peristiwa-peristiwa, dan seluruh budaya tanda Teori Roland Barthes sendiri yakni mengembangkan dua sistem bertingkat yang disebut denotasi (tanda) dan konotasi (petanda). Peneliti menggunakan metode teknik analisis korelasional dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif yaitu memaparkan data yang diperoleh pada buku kemudian di analisa dan dibandingkan dengan makna dari setiap kata. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, studi literatur serta dokumentasi. Adapun teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik analisis deskriptif. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat kalimat kalimat yang bermakna denotatif dan konotatif dan ditemukan nilai nilai akidah dalam buku tersebut.
