die Stellung des Arztes zum kiinstlichen Abort" in scharfen Umrissen gekennzeichnet und in ausgiebiger Weise die Grfinde dargelegt fiir die umw/ilzenden VerSnderungen in der Indikationsstellung, die im Verlauf yon einigen Dezennien in dieser Frage vor sich gegangen sin& In seinen Vorschl/igen fiber die l~IaBnabmen gegen ein Uberhandnehmen der kfinstlichen Friihgeburten, die heute wegen der grofien, durch den Weltkrieg herbeigefiihrten Verluste in unserer Bev61kerungszahl besonders bedeutsam sind, geht er aus yon dein Leitsatz, den die erweiterte wissenschaftliche Deputation im M~irz I916 dariiber aufgestellt und angenommen hat: ,,Der Arzt darf nut aus medizinischen Indikationen die Schwangerschaft unterbrechen. Die Indikation darf nur dann als vorliegend erachtet Werden, wenn bei der betreffenden Person infolge einer bereits bestehenden Erkrankung eine als unvermeidlich erwiesene sehwerste Gefahr ftir Leben und Gesundheit vorhanden ist, die durch kein anderes Mittel als durch Unterbrechung der Schwa~gerschafi abgewendet werden kann." Nit Recht bemerkt er abet dazu, dab dieser Leitsatz nichts mehr als eine Formel bedeutet, die nur eine allgemeine Richtschnur enth~tlt, aber niemals dem Arzt genauere, nicht zu verkennende Gesichtspunkt6 dariiber geben kann, wie er im speziellen Falle bei den verschiedensten Erkrankungen zu handeln hat. Es muB daber als sein Verdienst bezeicbnet werden, dab er sich der Arbeit unterzogen hat, genaue Belehrungsquellen ffir die Indikationsstellung beim kfinstliehen Abort zu schaffen, die bisher leider selbst in den Lehrbfichern nicht eindeutig vorhanden waren.
