RESUMENCinco poblaciones sintéticas utilizadas como progenitor materno en cruzamientos destinados a la producción de pollos camperos se evaluaron a partir de la caracterización dinámica del crecimiento dimensional de la progenie derivada de su apareamiento por gallos de una población sintética mejorada por peso corporal y eficiencia alimenticia. Se utilizaron como criterios los patrones de modificación del peso corporal y la longitud de la caña en función de la edad cronológica (funciones de Gompertz y logística, respectivamente) y del peso corporal en función de la longitud de la caña (función logística). Según el patrón de crecimiento en peso en función de la edad de las progenies, las cinco sintéticas son equivalentes como potenciales progenitores hembra en la producción de versiones de pollos camperos alternativas a Campero INTA. La inclusión del crecimiento de la caña como estimador del desarrollo esquelético introduce un elemento distintivo, correspondiendo a las sintéticas DE y ES las progenies con mayor base de sustentación ósea, valores intermedios a las sintéticas A y CE y los menores valores a la sintética E que es la utilizada habitualmente como madre del pollo Campero INTA.Palabras clave: peso corporal, longitud de la caña, análisis dinámico, híbridos experimentales, pollo campero. Evaluación de dos cruzamientos experimentales de tres vías de pollo campero bajo dos manejos de la alimentación
RESUMEN. El pollo Campero INTA es un tipo de ave destinado a la producción de carne en sistemas semi-intensivos. En Argentina es distribuido por el Programa Pro-Huerta para la autoproducción de alimentos y venta de excedentes por parte de sectores de la población en situación de vulnerabilidad alimentaria. Asimismo, representa una potencial alternativa productiva para un mercado vinculado con la demanda de productos naturales y el respeto por el bienestar animal. En el caso del Programa Prohuerta, los pollos camperos son distribuidos a zonas con muy diferente impacto de las variables medioambientales particularmente climáticas, situación en la que las interacciones genotipo x ambiente cobran particular trascendencia. El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar el efecto de la estación de crianza sobre las variables productivas habitualmente analizadas como salidas en estos sistemas de producción en pollos campero macho, derivados de dos modelos genéticos de cruzamientos terminales: el híbrido experimental de tres vías Campero Casilda y el híbrido simple Campero INTA. La evidencia obtenida indica que Campero Casilda presenta mayor estabilidad ante el cambio de estación en términos de eficiencia de uso del alimento. Las aves criadas en primavera presentan mayor proporción de cortes valiosos y bajo contenido de grasa respuestas asociadas a un menor peso corporal atribuible a los efectos detrimentales de la temperatura ambiente sobre la tasa de crecimiento.
El análisis de componentes principales es una técnica estadística multivariada de síntesis de la información o reducción del número de variables, con la potencialidad de exponer relaciones entre caracteres no evidentes por sí mismas, contribuyendo así a una interpretación más eficiente de la información contenida en un conjunto de datos. Su aplicación a seis caracteres vinculados con la madurez sexual (edad y peso corporal a la puesta del primer huevo, peso del primero y de los 10 primeros huevos, número de días para poner los 10 primeros huevos y coeficiente de variación del peso de los mismos) posibilitó caracterizar la estructura de variabilidad intrapoblacional en gallinas del cruzamiento experimental de tres vías Campero Casilda. Las dos primeras componentes -PC1 y PC2- explicaron el 56% de la variancia fenotípica total. La consideración conjunta de ambas permitió identificar a un grupo de aves caracterizadas por iniciar su postura con mayor edad y mayor peso corporal, con un comienzo de la etapa productiva más regular, con huevos uniformes de mayor peso, una conjunción de caracteres deseable para el inicio del ciclo. La trascendencia de esta identificación radica en la utilidad reconocida del análisis de componentes principales como estrategia para generar índices biológicos de selección.
