flaps Minor anastomotic leaks in the neck occurred in 36 out of 48 cases. 30 subsided with conservative management. 6 leaks did not heal and needed plastic repair. 40 cases have been followed up for 6 months to 8 years. They have gained weight and have returned to active life. Conclusions: Colon transposition is a good option for undilatable stricture oesophagus. However minor anastomotic leaks in the neck remain a nagging problem.
revealed severe hypothroidism. Triiodothyronine (T3) 52 ng/dL (Normal: 80 200 ng/dL). Thyroxin (T4) 4 mcg/dL (Normal: 5 13 mcg/dL), Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (T.S.ED 12 mIU/L (Normal: 0.3 5 mIU/L). He was started on daily dose of Tab Eltroxin 0.15 mg following which he recovered gradually, neurological status improved and thyroid function test returned to normal. He was discharged on month after surgery on maintenance dose of Eltroxin. Conclusions: A high index of suspicion is required to diagnose hypothyroidism in patients having unexplained cardiac and neurological dysfunction. The possible consequences of untreated hypothyroidism and the impact of cardiopulmonary bypass on thyroid homeostasis are stressed.CABG and off pump CABG showed a mortality of (n 12) 2% and (n 1) 10%, reexploration rates were (n 55) 10% and (n 18) 3%, resuturing and rewiring done in (n 19) 3.4% and (n 10) 2% and prolonged ventilation (n 23) 5% and (n 4) 0.75%. In rest of the patient population the duration of surgery, inotrope use, duration of ventilation, ITU stay etc., was comparable. There was no difference in the incidence of neurological and renal events. Conclusions: We conclude that reexploration, wound related problems and probably lung related problems are higher in the on pump CABG group, where as overall mortality, neurological and renal events are not significantly different. The duration of surger T, inotrope use, ITU stay, hospital stay are similar in both groups.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
