Research on the effect of the ratio of sodium bicarbonate on the mechanical properties of underarm crutch pads from natural rubber SIR-20 has been carried out. The ratio of sodium bicarbonate used was 1.00 phr; 1.50 phr; 2.00 phr; and 2.50 phr. The rubber compound for underarm crutch pads was made by the compounding process using an open rubber mixing mill and vulcanization at a temperature of 120 °C for 11 minutes. The best formula for curing characteristic rheometer test results at a temperature of 150 °C was URC-04 with Smax = 4.95 kg/cm, Smin = 0.44 kg/cm, ΔS = 4.51 kg/cm, t90 = 6.57 min and ts2 = 4.13 min. The mechanical test result showed the hardness test before aging and after aging of 31 Shore A, and 32 shore A, tear strength of 8.50 kN/m, elongation at the break before aging and after aging of 300%. The results of the identification of functional groups by FTIR for infrared absorption in each sample generally showed the same pattern with one another. SEM analysis result showed the distribution of materials and the formation of pores by sodium bicarbonate was not evenly distributed with an average diameter of 5 microns.
The engineering of natural rubber and synthetic rubber into vulcanized solid tyres for forklifts has been carried out to obtain the optimum ratio of formula and process temperature according to the standards of solid tyre commercial forklifts. Composite formulated materials consist of natural rubber, synthetic rubber, carbon black, silica, calcium carbonate, and coal fly ash, while the temperature, time, and other process materials are fixed variables. The results of testing the mechanical properties of forklift solid tyres for formula C are as follows: specific gravity1.195 g/cm3 hardness78 Shore A, tensile strength 17.3 Mpa, tear strength 55.2 kN/m, abrasion resistance 160.8 mm3 modulus 300% is 6.6%, and ozone resistance at 50 pphm, 20% strain, 24 h, 40 °C is no cracks.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh formulasi dalam pembuatan karet bantalan kaki untuk mebel yang mendekati persyaratan teknis SNI 06-7032-2004 untuk Karet Bantalan Kaki (Rubber Step) Sepeda Motor. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan variasi penggunaan bahan baku karet alam ribbed smoked sheet (RSS) dengan karet sintetis styrene butadiene rubber (SBR). Formulasi kompon karet dengan komposisi karet alam RSS sebanyak 100, 70, 50 dan 30 phr, serta SBR sebanyak 0, 30, 50 dan 70 phr. Pengujian dilakukan terhadap parameter kekerasan/hardness (ASTM D 2240), tegangan putus/tensile strength (ASTM D 412), perpanjangan putus/elongation at break (ASTM D 412), tegangan tarik/modulus 100% (ASTM D 412), ketahanan sobek/tear resistance (ASTM D 624), ketahanan kikis/abrassion (ASTM D 298) dan pampatan tetap/compression set 25%, dengan 3 (tiga) kali pengulangan pengujian untuk masing-masing parameter. Hasil uji kompon yang terbaik terdapat pada kompon formula III, dimana karet alam RSS yang digunakan sebanyak 50 phr dan SBR sebanyak 50 phr. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa hasil uji kekerasan sebesar 68 Shore A, tegangan putus 120 kg/cm 2 , perpanjangan putus 355%, tegangan tarik 100% yaitu 25 kg/cm 2 , ketahanan sobek 33 kg/cm 2 , ketahanan kikis 2,4 mm 3 /kgm, dan pampatan tetap 25% sebesar 23%.
