Senduduk (Melastoma malabathricum Linn.) adalah salah satu tanaman yang memiliki banyak khasiat. Salah satu khasiat yang masih dikembangkan adalah sebagai analgesik. Penelitian pernah dilakukan dan menghasilkan efektivitas analgetik sebesar 88% dengan metode geliat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melakukan uji potensi analgetik ekstrak etanol daun senduduk dengan metode hot plate sehingga diperoleh hasil potensi analgetik baik metode geliat maupun metode hot plate. Metode geliat biasanya digunakan untuk uji analgetik non narkotik yang menguji analgetik secara perifer, sedangkan metode hot plate digunakan untuk uji analgetik narkotik yang menguji analgetik sentral. Kedua metode ini sangat penting dilakukan untuk mendapatkan potensi analgetik. Penelitian potensi analgetik senduduk sudah dilakukan dengan metode geliat sehingga perlu untuk dilakukan penelitian metode hotplate. Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental yang terdiri dari beberapa tahapan yaitu pengumpulan daun senduduk, identifikasi tanaman, pembuatan simplisia, skrining fitokimia, pembuatan ekstrak etanol daun senduduk, dan pengujian efek analgetik. Pelaksanaan uji analgetik dilakukan setelah terlebih dahulu dilakukan uji pendahuluan pertama dan kedua. Uji analgetik terdiri dari kelompok kontrol negatif, kontrol positif, dan kelompok perlakuan dengan variasi dosis yaitu dosis 8mg/20g BB mencit, 12 mg/20 g BB mencit, dan 16mg/20 g BB mencit. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya persentase daya analgetik yang besar apabila dibandingkan dengan kontrol positif. Persentase terbesar diperoleh pada perlakuan dengan dosis 12mg/20 BB mencit sebesar 78,07%. Hal ini menunjukkan potensi yang besar apabila dibandingkan dengan kontrol positif dengan persentase 59,48% sehingga kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa tanaman senduduk memiliki potensi untuk dikembagkan menjadi kandidat analgesik.
Pendahuluan; kesumba keling (Bixa orellana L.) merupakan tanaman yang ditanam di perkarangan rumah atau pinggir jalan, mengandung alkaloid, flavonoid, dan karotenoid. Angkak merah merupakan produk alami yang berasal dari Cina, hasil fermentasi tradisional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kopigmentasi biji kesumba keling dan angkak merah dalam bentuk ekstrak etanol dapat diformulasikan sebagai pewarna alami ke dalam sediaan pewarna pipi yang pada konsentrasi tertentu menghasilkan warna alami yang memenuhi persyaratan dan tidak menimbulkan iritasi pada kulit. Metode; penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan menggunakan bahan uji biji kesumba keling (Bixa orellana L.) dan angkak merah. Penelitian diawali pengambilan sampel, identifikasi tumbuhan, pengolahan simplisia, pembuatan kopigmentasi biji kesumba keling (Bixa orellana L.) dan angkak merah dengan cara maserasi menggunakan penyari etanol 96%, dilakukan skrining fitokimia. Formulasi modifikasi dasar pewarna pipi dengan perbandingan masing-masing 1:2 antara biji kesumba keling dan angkak merah dibuat dalam 3 sediaan dengan konsentrasi 3%, 6%, dan 9%, dan blanko. Pemeriksaan mutu fisik sediaan meliputi, uji dispersi warna (homogenitas), uji poles, uji stabilitas, dan uji iritasi. Hasil; hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa kopigmentasi biji kesumba keling (Bixa orellana L.) dan angkak merah dalam bentuk ekstrak etanol dapat diformulasikan ke dalam sediaan pewarna pipi sebagai pewarna alami merupakan sediaan yang homogen, mudah dioleskan dan stabil selama penyimpanan 12 hari. Menghasilkan warna yang berbeda tergantung pada konsentrasi yang dikandung sediaan pada pewarna pipi. Seluruh pewarna pipi kopigmentasi ekstrak etanol biji kesumba keling (Bixa orellana L.) dan angkak merah yang dibuat tidak menyebabkan iritasi pada kulit.
