O artigo analisa os significados que os homens acusados de violência atribuem às agressões perpetradas contra as mulheres, no contexto da Lei Maria da Penha e de suas políticas públicas no Brasil. Chama a atenção também para as possíveis contribuições da abordagem interacionista e para a importância do foco nas ideias e nos valores nas análises das políticas públicas, principalmente aquelas que alcançam as identidades. A pesquisa realizada em Grupos de Reflexão para homens autores de violência em um Juizado de Violência Doméstica e Familiar contra a Mulher na cidade do Rio de Janeiro mostrou como alguns valores e ideias difundidos, como aqueles associados à "responsabilização" do agressor, são confrontados pelos homens. Muitas vezes eles recorrem às circunstâncias da situação nas quais ocorreram os conflitos interpessoais do casal de modo a denotar as agressões como uma resposta, ou até mesmo punição, ao comportamento inadequado das mulheres, que teriam desafiado a divisão tradicional dos papéis de gênero, reconhecida por eles como universalmente aceita.
Resumo Com recortes históricos recentes, o artigo aborda as relações entre as práticas discursivas da ativista Gabriela Leite e o processo de construção das prostitutas como sujeitos políticos. Ao privilegiar perspectivas da sociologia do indivíduo, analisa a trajetória pública de Gabriela em diferentes círculos sociais (religiosos, organizações governamentais e não governamentais, entre outros) e identifica as conexões entre essa trajetória, o movimento social de prostitutas e a penetração de novas ideias e valores no campo dos direitos sexuais, destacadamente nas políticas de prevenção ao HIV/Aids. A pesquisa reuniu informações qualitativas coletadas em diferentes fontes entre os anos de 1980-1990 e, posteriormente, 2010-2013.

Esta é uma das importantes problematizações enfrentadas pela autora do livro Bolsa família: questões de gênero e moralidades. Em torno do amplo e diversificado tema da pobreza, Mani Tebet Marins realiza uma análise específica sobre as representações e práticas (sobretudo morais e simbólicas) de "pobres" beneficiários e não beneficiários de um programa brasileiro de transferência de renda, o Programa Bolsa Família (PBF).Estudar relações sociais a partir de contextos onde se desenvolvem políticas públicas é um caminho que nem sempre atraiu o interesse de sociólogos, mas isto não significa que este não seja um campo profícuo de investigação, como bem mostram os "achados" da autora. Um certo grau de desinteresse talvez se encontre no viés normativo e prescritivo que as análises sobre políticas públicas podem assumir. Em que pese o seu crescimento no Brasil nos últimos anos, a pesquisa em políticas públicas ainda é caraterizada como área de baixo acúmulo de conhecimento (Arretche, 2003). Ao mesmo tempo, muitas vezes condicionada pela conjuntura e produzida em contextos de proximidade ou influência dos órgãos governamentais (Melo, 1999;Souza, 2003), esta tipo de investigação tem sido pouco atrativa aos cientistas sociais. O trabalho sociológico da autora, presta relevante contribuição aos estudos na área das políticas públicas e, de certo, em nada se aproxima de uma visão normativa ou linear. A sua abordagem, assentada em base teórica sólida, privilegia uma compreensão desta política social brasileira de transferência de renda onde ela se faz, ou seja, no contexto das relações e interações entre os diferentes grupos de atores envolvidos com o Programa Bolsa Família.Este estudo nos apresenta o cenário moral onde a política social se desenvolve, um universo complexo onde hierarquias, fronteiras simbólicas, rótulos e classificações estigmatizadoras circulam entre os atores sociais. O conteúdo analítico que desvenda estas questões, é amparado por uma metodologia inovadora. Contrastando com outros trabalhos sobre o Bolsa Família, a autora compara, através de observações e entrevistas, três grupos principais de atores: famílias beneficiárias, famílias não beneficiárias e atores institucionais.
