The chemical composition of the methanolic extract of Ammi visnaga (Khella) seeds from the Sidi Slimane region is determined for the first time by Gas Chromatography coupled with Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS). Ten compounds representing 99.638% of the total extract were identified. Khellin (49.011%), Visnagin (26.537%) and Dimethylethylamine (15.108%) are the major components. Moreover, the inhibitory effect of the Methanolic extract of the seeds of Ammi visnaga on the corrosion of mild steel in a solution of 1M HCl is determined using weight loss measurements, the potentiodynamic technique as well as the technique of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). It is found that the extract reduces the corrosion rate of the steel in the acid solution. Inhibition efficiency increases as the concentration of the extract increases. The tested compound has an inhibition efficiency of 84% for a concentration equal to 1.0 g/L. The polarization measurements indicate that the examined extract acts as a mixed inhibitor with predominant anodic efficacy. The data obtained from EIS studies are analyzed to model this process using appropriate equivalent circuit models. The adsorption of the extract on the surface of the mild steel obeys the Langmuir adsorption isotherm in acidic medium and the activation is determined and discussed.
An ethnobotanical study of medicinal plants carried out in the province of Sidi Slimane (Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Region). It has been added to the catalog of medicinal plants and to classify all the information concerning the therapeutic uses practiced by the local population. Using 300 questionnaire cards, ethnobotanical surveys were conducted over a period of two years (2015 and 2016). The survey allowed us to identify 46 species belonging to 43 genera and 24 botanical families. In addition, the leaves are the most used part as an infusion to treat diseases. In terms of diseases treated, digestive disorders rank first (31.59%), followed by respiratory diseases (24.30%) and diseases of the nervous system (17.01%). The results obtained will be a very valuable source of information for the region studied and for the scientific community. They could be a database for further research in the fields of phytochemistry and pharmacology and for the purpose of searching for new natural substances.
Turkey meat is considered among meat of poultry most consumed by the Moroccan population, and this due to its richness in vitamins, proteins and essential elements for growth, which gives him an excellent nutritional value. In addition, it is characterized by a low content of fatty acids. But this highly perishable commodity could constitute a real danger of food-borne illness. The aim of present study is to assess the hygienic quality of 168 samples collected from twenty four points of sales located in six neighborhoods in Kenitra. The analysis of the microbiological quality of the samples shows that the percentage of non-compliance for the parameter Total Aerobic Mesophilic Flora is 35%, with the mean concentration 7.21 (log 10 cfu/g). The respective percentages of non-compliance of the total and fecal coliforms are 68 and 75% with bacterial concentrations 6.69 (log 10 cfu/g) and 6.42 (log 10 cfu/g). This non-compliance is due to the presence of the germs of fecal contamination among the identified isolates. The four identified species showed following prevalence: Escherichia coli (67.9%), Klebsiella pneumonia (17, 9%), Pseudomonas sp. (14.1%) and Salmonella (0%).
