En este trabajo se realiza un análisis experimental del comportamiento de hormigones de muy altas prestaciones reforzados con fibras sometidos a cargas de choque térmico. Este tipo de materiales puede emplearse en estructuras de responsabilidad y que estén sometidas a cargas de choque térmico durante su vida útil, como en el caso de depósitos de almacenamiento de vapor o cimentaciones de tanques de sales, entre otros. En estos casos, es necesario conocer el comportamiento de estos materiales ante las modificaciones microestructurales que las cargas de origen térmico y el gradiente de aplicación de las mismas pueda producir. Para ello, se han fabricado distintas probetas (cúbicas, cilíndricas y prismáticas) de hormigones de muy alta resistencia (con y sin refuerzo de fibras de acero como material de control) y se han sometido a un calentamiento progresivo en horno de hasta 300ºC y posterior enfriamiento rápido mediante aire o agua. A continuación, se han realizado ensayos de compresión simple, módulo de Young y energía de fractura (ensayos a flexión en tres puntos) para la determinación de sus propiedades mecánicas y en fractura residuales. Estos ensayos se han complementado con análisis mediante tomografía computerizada para relacionar los cambios microestructurales observados con la alteración de las propiedades mecánicas.
