Factors influencing supply and demand of cocoa in the international market. This study aims to describe the important factors affecting the global cocoa industry through development of a market model that represents the cocoa production, demand, prices and also a stock equation. The model is estimated using a model of simultaneous equations using least squares data in a two-stage annual database that extend over the period 1960/61-2013/14. The results suggest that the factors that affect cocoa production in almonds are real prices and normal production. However, demand is affected by the growth of the world economy and the real price. The main results for price simulations for the period 2014/15 -2020/21 indicate that a yearly growth of 2.1% there is a price downward trend to 3.9% there is a tendency of stability the price of cocoa to 2018/19 and an upward trend in prices from 2019/20 and an increase of 5.3% a significant improvement trend of cocoa prices on the international market. As for inventories suggest that world income growth above 3.9% the trend is to have lower deficits from 2019/20 and 5.3 % higher deficits from 2017/18.
Palavras-chave: produção, demanda, exportação, importação, cacauThe Brazilian market for cocoa: demand prospects, supply and princes. This study aims to describe the important factors affecting the cocoa industry in Brazil through formulation of a market model that represents the cocoa production, imports, domestic consumption, exports and prices, as well as an equation of stock as a closing identity. The model is estimated using a model of simultaneous equations using squares of minimum two stages for a period of 1980-2014. The results suggest that the important factors that affected the Brazilian production of cocoa beans are cocoa prices, the harvested area, the dummy variable of witches' broom, the interest rate lagged by two years and production lagged in a year. The major determinant of domestic demand was the chocolate industry growth. In addition, export demand could be explained by variables including the world price of cocoa, income (GDP) and world export demand lagged a year. The internal price varied depending on the ratio of stock and cocoa demand lagged in a year and the price lagged one year.
