La mise en évidence d'une structure cadastrale romaine unique s'étendant de l'Aquitaine à Narbonne soulève bien des questions, entre autres celle de l'interprétation historique d'une entreprise d'arpentage agraire qui englobe des territoires juridiquement différents. L'éventuelle extension à la frange orientale de l'Aquitaine d'un tel système tend à accréditer l'hypothèse d'un cadastre inter-provincial dont l'origine serait dès lors impériale. Au-delà de ses implications techniques ou morphologiques, la reconnaissance d'un tel réseau, le plus vaste recensé en Gaule à ce jour, contribuera peut-être à apporter quelques éléments de réflexion quant aux modalités de l'implantation cadastrale post-républicaine dans les provinces, lesquelles nous échappent encore quelque peu.
Résumé - Dans une région du Languedoc méditerranéen où étaient déjà connus cinq cadastres, l'auteur a identifié les traces d'un nouveau système qu'il propose d'intituler "Cesssero- Forum Domitii ". Orienté N 35° E et d'un module de 706-708 m, il s'étend sur la rive orientale du Libron jusqu'au Lez. Par le jeu des datations relatives, ce cadastre se placerait à une époque antérieure aux réseaux montpellièrais ou "Béziers A". L'inventeur propose également de lier le avicus" de Ballaruc à cette pertica, ce qui permettrait de l'envisager comme antérieure à l'époque augustéenne. La mise en place serait également postérieure à la cadastration du territoire d'Agde grecque, donc à 49 av. J.-C. Le réseau "Cessero-Forum Domitii " pourrait fort bien être d'époque césarienne. Par relation avec celui de "Béziers C-Cessero" qui lui serait de peu postérieur, l'auteur s'interroge sur l'intégration de Forum Domitii à ce découpage rural.
