Introduction: Health sciences university students (HSUS) are susceptible to HIV infection due to frequent contact with patients whose HIV status is unknown. This study aimed to compare the HIV/AIDS-related knowledge and the willingness to participate in VCT among HSUS, analyzing the differences between groups, and correlation and effect between variables. Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 357 HSUS from the faculty of nursing, pharmacy, psychology and medicine at an accredited university. Samples were selected using simple random sampling. Data analysis used descriptive statistic, Pearson correlation, one-way ANOVA test, and linear regression test (α<0.05).Results: Most respondents were 20-21 years old single female who still live with parents, exposed to HIV/AIDS material twice/more via academic activities; lack of HIV/AIDS-related knowledge (51.5%), highest mean found in medical students (73.1%); willing enough to participate in VCT (83.5%), highest mean found in nursing students (86.4%). No correlation found between variables (p=0.101), and the regression model was not significant (p=0.101). HIV/AIDS-related knowledge contributed only 0.8% influence on the willingness to participate in VCT among HSUS (R2=0.008), other unidentified factors possibly play a more important role. Conclusion: Besides knowledge, other factors like demographic factors, social determinants, close person, health education, fear, and HIV-related stigma may affect the willingness to participate in VCT among HSUS. HSUS's knowledge about HIV/AIDS was low but their willingness to participate in VCT was quite high. HIV/AIDS-related knowledge has a slight contribution in determining HSUS's willingness to participate in VCT. Further analysis of other potential factors is needed to determine stronger predictors.
Background : Renal failure is a clinical condition which irreversible reduction in renal function and need hemodialysis as replacement for kidney function. Hemodialysis is a dialysis that perform outsite the body. Indonesian Association Of Nephrology (Pernerfi) stated that new hemodialysis and active hemodialysis patients in Indonesia since 2007-2018 increased, 14.644 new hemodialysis patients and 7.276 active hemodialysis patients.Method : This is a descriptive analysis study with cross-sectional design and multiple logistic regression to identify dominant factor related to quality of life hemodialysis patients. Location of this research was Tabanan General Hospital. The sampling technique was nonprability sampling with total population were 166 patients. Data collected using insomnia questionnaire, family support questionnaire, quality if life questionnaire and complication observation form. Result : The result showed that, higher OR found in intra hemodialysis variabel (OR:180,917), which mean that intra hemodialysis complication is a dominan factor related to quality of life hemodialysis patients. Patients who had complication were more likely to have low quality of life. Further study are needed to identify factors related to intra hemodialysis complications. Keywords : Dominan factors, intra hemodialysis complications, quality if life, end stage renal failure, hemodialysis.
Introduction: Flipped classroom is an instructional model which is flipping the traditionally learning method used in class now being the homework for college students, while classes are conducted face to face using collaborative learning and inquiry-based learning method. This study aimed to explain the effectiveness of flipped classroom learning combined with team based learning toward learning achievement and satisfaction of nursing students. Methods: this was a quasi experimental study using non equivalent group post test only design. Population was year two students class A and class B, sample size was 161 students which is 81 students from class A and 80 students from class B. Results: more respondents were satisfied with flipped classroom learning combined with team based learning (92.6%). Mean rank of group undertaking flipped classroom combined with team based learning were higher (96.90) compared to group undertaking traditional method (64.91). Mann-whitney showed that p value = 0.000 which means there was a different of learning achievement between group of student undertaking flipped classroom learning combined with team based learning and students undertaking traditional method. Conclusions : Flipped classroom combined with team based learning are more effective than the traditional learning. It is recommended to use mix-method and larger sample for further study.
