Excessive land exploitation in Dumai has been replaced by intrusion seawater in aquifers in the coastal area. This is indicated by the increasing number of society’s wells that turn into brackish. The intrusion has a wide impact on various aspects of life, such as decreasing soil fertility, damage the buildings, and disrupting public health. The aim of this study is to find out the saturated zone of water and the interface of water with fresh water, so it is known that water zones are suitable for daily use. The study used Geoelectrical Resistivity Survey with 1D Schlumberger configuration to determine the zone of aquifer and its thickness. Based on the research that has been done, the results of the boundary of the intrusion zone in Dumai were obtained that there is an intrusion zone boundary of seawater content. This is indicated by the low resistivity value. It is less than 10 ohms, which is found at the zone of less than 1 km from the beach line.
The teaching and learning process is no longer what it used to be. If the learning process is not adapted to the times, students will not be interested and the learning process will be ineffective, likewise with learning English in Indonesia, especially in grammar learning process. The inadequacy of learning media has decreased student enthusiasm and motivation in learning grammar. Previous researchers have relied primarily on one learning model without combining it with other models. This situation can actually lead the students’ tedium because there is no combination of several learning models. Therefore, this paper presents MELDe (Multifunctional English Learning Devices) as a smart solution to overcoming this problem. This research used Research and Development Methodology with 20 islamic junior high school students randomly in Pekanbaru as the samples. The research has distributed the questionnaire and MELDe learning media demo video via Google Form and Youtube to obtain the data needed. The data analysis technique used qualitative data in a descriptive form that described the practicality of MELDe. The practicality observation for MELDe, which used the ADDIE model, aimed to observe the practicality of this learning media as an English learning tool, especially on grammar material. All scores in the assessment aspect have been calculated and got an average score of 77.2% in the 'practical' category. Therefore, MELDe is stated to be ‘practical’ for junior high school students in learning English grammar and can be boosted up the enthusiasm of students in learning process.
In this era of globalization, English has become the second language for some non-English speaking countries. But in Indonesia, English is actually being a foreign language. This is because learning English in junior high school is monotonous and boring. So students’ interest in learning is reduced. The purpose of this study is to create a media for learning English so that it can increase interest the environment feel in learning and trigger students’ enthusiasm in learning English subjects. The learning media is spinning wheel and a jumbo puzzle with picture of the Siak Palace. This learning media was tested limited to students of Pekanbaru Az-Zuhra Islamic Middle School. Students were divided into 3 groups. The group representatives would spin the spinning wheel which contained the difficulty level of the quiz and the group would discuss to answer the quiz about the material. After that, the group with the correct answers would paste several puzzles on the board according to the score that they obtained from the previous quiz. From the results of this limited test, based on questionnaires given after learning, it appears that there is an increase in interest and enthusiasm of students in learning English through this media. This learning media in general can build interest and increase student motivation in learning English and can build skills to work together in learning groups.
Mostly pregnant women suffered back pain. Based on a preliminary studies conducted by researcher in the Tarai Bangun, 15 pregnant women in third trimester said that they had back pain. Back pain can be overcome, one of which is by doing an endorphin massage that can make the mother relax and reduce the pain felt. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of endorphin massage on back pain in pregnant women. The study design used was Quasy Experiment with a non-equivalent control group design which it divided into an experimental group and a control group. The sample was 34 respondents using purposive sampling technique. The measuring instrument used in both groups was the Numeric Rating Scale pain scale. Data analysis used dependent t test and independent t test. The results showed that there were differences in back pain scores before and after endorphin massage in the experimental group, so it can be concluded that endorphin massage is effective against back pain in pregnant women with a p value of 0.001 (p <0.05). The results of this study can be used as a reference to using endorphin massage as a way to deal with complaints of back pain in pregnant women.
