Palavras-chave: doenças inflamatórias intestinais, colite, intestino grosso AbstractUlcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic disease of unknown cause that affects the large intestine, and triggers an inflammatory process in the intestinal mucosa. The signs and symptoms are chronic diarrhea with blood, anemia and absence of fever. The drug therapy used for RCU is only palliative since there is no cure for this disease so far. Therapeutic options are still limited, and research is needed to identify therapeutic alternatives that seek to prevent or minimize such pathologies to provide improvements in the quality of life of the people affected by it. The objective of the study is to evaluate, through a bibliographic review, the morphofunctional changes in the intestinal structure caused by the RCU.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
