Arrhythmic death was associated predominantly with depressed heart rate variability and ventricular tachycardia runs, and nonarrhythmic death with low ejection fraction, ventricular ectopic beats and depressed heart rate variability. A combination of risk factors identified patient groups in which a majority of deaths were either arrhythmic or nonarrhythmic.
Predischarge 24-h mean heart rate is a strong predictor of mortality after myocardial infarction that can compete with left ventricular ejection fraction and heart rate variability.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
