Palavras-chave: desempenho, farelo de canola, Oreochromis niloticus, tilápia do Nilo, proteína Replacement of Soybean Meal Protein by Canola Meal Protein in Diets for Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) in the Growing PhaseABSTRACT -This experiment was carried out to evaluate the effect of diets with different crude protein (CP) replacement levels of soybean meal (SBM) by canola meal (CM) on growing Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) performance and carcass characteristics. Effect of gonadal maturation on the caloric content and general condition of fish from the upper Paraná river floodplain. Aiming to investigate the energy allocation and the correlation between it and the condition factor (K) of fish from the Upper Paraná River floodplain (22º43'S; 53º2'W), the following species were selected: Serrasalmus marginatus (piscivorous), Loricariichthys platymetopon (detritivorous), Leporinus friderici (omnivorous-herbivorous) and Parauchenipterus galeatus (omnivorous-insectivorous). The collections were carried out in November/2002 and March and September/2003. The muscle samples of individuals from both sexes, belonging to different stages of gonadal maturation had their caloric content determined in a calorimetric pump and the results compared with K. Significant differences were found between the sexes and maturation stages. The detritivorous species was positioned between the omnivor and piscivor regarding the caloric content. Differences among the omnivorous were not identified. The gonadal maturation had an effect on the allocation of energy and K. It was not correlated with the energy stored in the muscles.
Fishmeal replacement by soybean meal in the diets of piavuçu Leporinus macrocephalus (Garavello & Britski, 1988) fingerlings. Fishmeal (FM) replacement by soybean (SM) meal in the diets of piavuçu, Leporinus macrocephalus (Characiformes, Anostomidae) fingerlings is evaluated. 150 fishes with initial mean weight of 0.52±0.01g were distributed in 30 net ponds, in a randomized block design, with six different diets (20, 16, 12, 8, 4 and 0% FM in diets) and five replicates. Isoproteinic, isocaloric, isocalcic diets and isoaminoacid for lisine and methionine+cistine were given during forty days. Quadratic effect (p<0,03) was reported to average values of final weight, percentage of gain weight and efficiency protein ratio with the increase of replacement levels of FM by SM in diets with minimal values at 10.99, 13.59 and 13.22% of FM inclusion in diet. The feed: gain had its highest value at 12.99% of FM. The survival rate was not affected. It may be concluded that the soybean meal may replace totally the fishmeal in the diet of Leporinus macrocephalus fingerlings.
Palavras-chave: Brassica napus, curimbatá, farelo de canola, farelo de soja, Prochilodus lineatus Replacement of Soybean Meal Protein by Canola Meal Protein in "Curimbatá" (Prochilodus lineatus V.) Fingerling DietsABSTRACT -The influence of the substitution of soybean meal protein (SM) by canola meal protein (CM) in Prochilodus lineatus fingerling diets was verified. One hundred and twenty specimens, averaging weight 1.88±0.82g and total length 5.40±0.99cm, was assigned to a completely randomized randomized design, with six treatments and four replicates, in a 50 L glass aquarium, with five fingerlings in each experimental unit. Isoprotein (26.00%), isocalcium (0.90%) and isophosphorus (0.70%) diets were formulated with increasing replacement levels of SM protein by CM protein (0.00, 20.00, 40.00, 60.00, 80.00, and 100.00%). Values correspond respectively to 0. 00, 8.03, 16.10, 24.10, 32.15 and 43.12% of CM inclusion in diets for 30 days. Physical and chemical parameters of water were measured every seven days. Through an increase in CM inclusion in diets, a linear decrease in weight gain and protein efficiency rate was reported; a linear increase in food conversion has also been recorded. There was no influence of CM inclusion in diets on survival rate and feed costs/kg gained. Water temperature, pH and electrical conductivity remained within proper limits. Increase in levels of protein inclusion of CM in diets for Prochilodus lineatus fingerlings caused a decrease in their performance.
