Background: Life in prison can trigger stress that affects blood pressure. One way to control blood pressure in hypertensive patients is to use non-pharmacological therapy interventions. One of them is to use autogenic relaxation and music therapy methods. Purpose: This study aimed to determine the effect of autogenic and music therapy on reducing blood pressure for inmates. Method: The research method is quasi-experimental, with one group pretest and posttest design. This research was conducted in a prison in the Surabaya area. The total sample of this study is 20 respondents. Result: After autogenic and music relaxation therapy, participants with normal blood pressure levels increased to 60%. Based on the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test result, it's known that p-value = 0,001 with (?<0.05), which means this program may affect participants' blood pressure. Conclusion: The use of autogenic and music therapy may reduce blood pressure. This program significantly lowered participants' perception of stress, and it enhanced their perception of health
The Covid-19 pandemic has become a stressful situation for teenagers and children, thus affecting their health and immune system. Prolonged stress (chronic stress) impacts the body's immune system. Stress has an emotional, cognitive, physiological, and behavioural impact. Individuals with high-stress levels will have more difficulty manifesting positive thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Good mental health is essential for a person to deal with stress in life and is vital in the physique health of adults and children. Therefore, community service was carried out to help with stress management and relaxation therapy. This community service aims to reduce stress among children and adolescents in Saint Beatrix orphanage Sidoarjo. This program involved thirty female children and adolescents in Saint Beatrix orphanage Sidoarjo. They took a pre-test, which indicated a low knowledge of stress management. The results showed that the participants had poor knowledge about stress management. Methods used for stress management education were lectures and discussions. Evaluation of the program successfully before and after the activity was measured after the participants filled out a questionnaire that measured their knowledge about stress management. Meanwhile, the evaluation of relaxation therapy training was carried out through demonstration. After conducting the program, it showed that the number of participants with a high level of knowledge went up to 77%. Based on the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test result, it's known that the p-value = 0,000 with (ɑ<0.05), which means this program may enhance participants’ knowledge.
Adolescents who live at an orphanage may be at risk of mental disorders among adolescents. As adolescent orphans usually have bad memories, therapeutic groups are alternatives to overcome this issue. A civic engagement program was conducted to tackle development issues in adolescents as it performed a therapeutic approach with their peers. This program involved twenty-one female adolescents in Saint Beatrix orphanage Sidoarjo. They took a pre-test, which indicated a low level of knowledge about adolescent development. Group therapy was conducted in seven sessions, each of which took an hour. In the evaluation stage, questionnaires were distributed to test the adolescents’ knowledge about adolescent development. After conducting the therapeutic group therapy, it showed that adolescents’ knowledge about the development stages and their challenges improved. Based on the result of the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test, it's known that p-value = 0,000 with (ɑ<0.05), which means therapeutic group therapy may enhance knowledge about adolescent development stages to promote a healthy lifestyle in adolescents
